The vacuum is working fine- you have the brush setting set to low- raise it up to carpet, it seems to be set for hard floor or tile.

I believe it will still work. Be sure the handle is Pulled back. Be sure button for brush is turned on.

Maybe not the same issue, but my roller brush would only work intermittently. I had to take apart the main housing and clean the two contacts (female side) that connect to the lower brush assembly. Now it works like new.

Might be a defective switch.

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. If the dust cup is too full, there is no space for the dirt to go when you are vacuuming. To fix this, remove the dust cup and empty the it. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt after emptying the dust cup, there may be something blocking the airway. There are two places where you can check for a blockage: the dust cup air duct and the intake opening behind the brush roll. To check for a blockage in the dust cup air duct stand the vacuum upright and remove the dust cup. Now you can disconnect the super stretch hose and check for clogs in the air duct behind the dust cup. If that is not the case, to check for a clog near the roller brush lay the vacuum down. Next check the opening behind the brush roll for clogs. If there is debris, clean the opening with scissors, carefully cutting away any debris. Uncleaned filters may also the reason why your vacuum has lost suction. To clean the foam and felt filters, remove the dust cup and pull out the two filters that are on the top of the motor base. Rinse the filters with lukewarm water until the water is running clear. Let the filters dry fully before putting them back into the vacuum. If your vacuum is still not picking up dirt, you may need to replace it. Unfortunately, if none of the other solutions worked, your motor is going bad. Most of the time a new motor costs as much as the vacuum itself and it is not easy to replace the motor. It may be time for a new vacuum. Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. To change the belt of your Shark vacuum, you will need a flat head or a philips screw driver and a pair of scissors or a knife to clean your roller brush. First, make sure to switch off your vacuum and is unplug from the power. In an upright position (vacuum), remove, empty and clean the dust cup. After cleaning the dust cup, lay down the vacuum horizontally on the floor to access the brush roller unit. Using the appropriate screewdriver, flathead or philips (which will depend on the model of your vacuum), unscrew that holds the roller cover in place. When you lift the cover of the roller up and if it doesn't lift easily, don't force it because it probably means that you have missed one of the retaining screws. After you removed the cover, you will be able to see the roller assembly and the belt that drives it. If the belt has become worn, lost some teeth, or it has broken completely, you will need to remove the roller itself to be able to replace the belt. Clasp the end of the roller that is farthest from the belt between your fingers and lift it out of its holder. It should lift out very easily. You will then be able to lift out the other side of the roller that is attached to the belt and slip the belt on it. The other end of the belt, if it has not broken completely, will be attached to the motor shaft. That too can now be slipped off the end of the shaft. With the roller bursh having been removed from the motorised head, I suggest you clean it. You may use a pair of scissors or knife to cut/remove the hair that are stuck. Be careful that you don't cut the bristles of the brush. Also, remove any debris that has found its way inside the roller cover at this point by using a wet towel or tissue. To replace the belt, slide the new belt around the drive shaft of the vacuum cleaner and onto the seat. Then, replace the belt end of the roller, sliding the belt around the roller inside the plastic guides that are there to stop the belt slipping. Clip the far side of the roller back into the slots provided for it and adjust the belt as necessary to make sure that it is sitting squarely on the roller and the drive shaft and then check that the belt is tensioned properly. Now, all you need to do is to replace the brush roller cover and tighten it down with the screws that you removed earlier. When you tighten the screws, they should be firmly screwed on, but don't overtighten the screws or you could crack the plastic casing. You can then reconnect the shark vacuum to the power supply and check that everything is working properly. there is a plastic vacuum hose on the side of the brush unit , there is a blockage there , it is possible to pull one end of the hose off to remove the blockage.

check to see if there is a button to push to lift the front part of your vacume up maybe to close to the carpet or your back wheels have something stuck in them

A lot of times company with use torx screws and they hide them you have to disable the rear housing. Make sure you watch how you take it apart because you will need to do the revised to reassemble it. Also make sure you put a cord whip on the housing were the cord go' s in Good luck and just take your time

there is a button in the handle of the canister, push the button in while pulling out on the handle.

The first place the "dirty" air enters is the top chamber of the canister where it traps the bigger stuff. The canister has two clean-out doors so make sure you open them both (top and bottom) or you could have problems. Nice thing about the Shark as it has a number of clean-out points starting at the base of the hose where it enters the bottom of the vac. to the beater brush (on the bottom of just behind the brush assembly). I have the Shark Professional Life-away. Maybe the same, or similar to yours. If its the same, there are 8 screws that hold everything together. You probably found the two under the small rubber rollers located at the front bottom cover. There is one more hidden ***** under the "Hose Access" cover. Just pinch the two clips together (you may have to work these clips a bit to open the door) and you will see the last ***** inside. The top cover should then lift off without a problem, just unplug the LED light cable (remembering its orientation) and you can get to the cover for the beater brush. Hope this helps!

Motor is jammed or burnt out,is there a burning electrical smell?,if there is,and the belt on the motor turns freely by hand , then the motor is burnt out.
