A Tune-up is a poorly used word

Spark Plugs are the only part that restores
your engine to where it was designed

ALL Tuning has been done by the On-Board-
Computer since 1981 on GM & 1983 for Ford & Chry
(OBD1) (OBD2 1996 thru 2011)

There is no major tune-up vs something else

You only replace a Fuel Pump when it fails

Why 2003 saturn vue getting too much gas?

I'm not really sure of your question But in either case if your using to much gas or feel the car is geting to much gas. the car is 11years old keep that in mind. If your not the first owner I doubt a major tune-up has not been done. First I would have the fuel regulator checked out. If on is cheaper than a diagnostic fee just change it. remember most have a vacumm line attached pull it off to see if you have vacumm, if not check downstream to see if the hose came off or is clogged. Now back to the tune-up. And I mean a complete tune-up spark plugs, wires, airfilter, fuel filter and an oil change. But the most important is a professional fuel injection service and not one where they put chemical in the gas tank. Alot of shops have a machine that is connected to the fuel rail and the gas tank is disconnected and the car is ran on a special chemical for about 30 or 40 minutes. What could be happening one or more fuel injectors could be stuck open due to dirt. This service may help and cure your problem. There is always a possibility a fuel injector is bad also. One way to tell if you know where the fuel injectors are is to take a stethoscope and listen to each one The ticking sound should be very close in each one. Example 15 ticks in 10 seconds. If you hear one that seems to be slower it is the one staying open the longest. Replace it or do the service and see if that fuel injector improves The complete service will increase your gas milage for sure.

Loss of gas milage and power on my 1994 Chevy 1500 4.3

Tune-up time. You may have even accumulated moisture in your fuel tank, which can be solved by FUEL SYSTEM WATER REMOVER additive.
Also, change the fuel filter and check for fuel pressure issues and replace the fuel pressure regulator as necessary.

I have a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim - 4 cylinder. It will start and run for a while but if I make about 2 runs and come back out to start it, it just turns but will not catch. If I let it sit for about 4-5...

It sounds like your ignition coil is over heating. Was the coil replaced? Your mechanic should have checked voltage/resistance and replaced if needed since it is not too expensive and is a major part of tune-up and ignition system. You can change yourself in a few minutes and save some cash. I had the same problem and had to wait for coil to cool before it would start again. Hope this helps.

Had my fuel pump changed then the fuel milage drop from approx. 350 - 400 a tank down to 250 a tank, then the head gasgets were bad an the antifreeze ruined o2 sensors had replaced but gas milage did not...

Check for a leak in the fuel system, especially around the fuel pump and any fuel line that may have been moved during the change. Another possibility is dirt in the fuel injectors is keeping them open so they dribble in too much fuel - you may smell unburned or incompletely burned gasoline in the exhaust when the catalytic converter is cold. A problem with the ignition (bad plug or cable) will also do this, but the engine would probably run a bit rough under load in this case.

If you are getting the mileage from an instrument panel mileage indicator, have you calculated your mileage per gallon with the amount of fuel put in the tank (from the vendor pump) divided by the odometer difference from the last time you filled? Perhaps there is a problem with the fuel level sender and it's reading low.

Check engine light on; Gas milage went from 19 to 15, emission ba

YES!!, you had it tuned, it runs good, but gas mileage dropped, and check engine light is on,it sounds like the o2 sensors are slow or even dead, i would replace them for sure and that just might solve all your problems, good luck, hope this helps.

Fuel gauge

The bouncing is cuased by a fault fuel sending unit located in the gas tank. Sometimes you can change just the sender but you'll probably have to get it from your local dealership. Most parts stores will sell the sender only with the fuel pump and it can cost serveral hundred dollars. Either way you have to remove the gas tank to change it. Your gas milage problem can be cuased by a a bad fuel pressure regulator which are known to go bad on those cars.
