My check engine light came on and my was bogging and chugging at 2500 to 3000 RPM and now it would not start unless I left the key turned and cranked for 5-10 seconds. Error codes are P0522 Oil Pressure Sensor and P0340 No Camshaft signal being received by computer. Can someone help let me know what this might involve.

There is a new PCM flash for this condition, the Technical service bulletin reference # is 18-026-03. The update will need to be done by a dealer. I would recommend this before replacing any parts.

Fuel relay

Short answer, your batter is bad. or is disCHARGED:
Long.:

wont crank?
no engine, cranks ,unless the starting system works.
unless pushed fast, like my car or i park on a hill and coast jump my car.(M/T tranny rule)

NO crank, is the true failure here:
slow Cranks are , bad battery , or a discharged battery , due to bad charging system or parked for 3 months or longer.

so ill assume its NO CRANK.
I turn the key TO START and the starter fails to CRANK.
the starter motor is dead. (key clue 1)
so i attach a set of jumper cables to my Caddy, running and this car
now cranks and RUNS (you left that out. above, huh? runs)

turnsover means nothing, because the engine starter turns over
and the engine can turn over and the engine can run,
once running the EFI system SUSTAINS runninng.
so there are 4 states there. (4 phases )

No cranks #1 reason to be slow , are a bad battery
so I charge that battery, and see how if it cranks , now?
it dont crank means a bad battery
it does work( crank) see how long it works.../?
if it dies again, or better, check the cars Alternator for by measuring
accross the battery terminals running , with any volt meter.
13.3 to 15vdc is a good alternator running the engine.
if NOT, the charge system is bad. (system)

On some cars the IMMO can block Cranking or for sure blocks
fueling after 2 seconds. So. watch the IMMO light on the dash.
Immo is the Immoblizer. option.

check all fuses.
cuts out hot or cold engine.????????
if it wont start and car gets 60k tuneup (?)
then connect scan tool and crank for 5 seconds.
see if you get scan DTC errors , cranking (release key) see em?
stalls are caused by over 50 reasons. guessing is impossible or very expensive.
enter: Diagnosis,
you take measurements, and find the failure path then work that path like bird dog.
2.5L 4cyl engine. I just sold min last week. with 5sp M/T
cuts out, does that mean the engine stalls?
we need to know what it really does.
1: stalls (engine rpm drops to 0 RPM)
2: engine rpm drops to 300rpm and shakes.
3: power loss from engine?
4: only stalls at stop signs...?
5: bogs all them time, same as #3
6: engine misfires (shake)
7: bogs only on throttle TIP-IN then recovers.
8: bogs only on hills.

i wait.
when dead, is spark lost?

Not to scare or offend you but it could be many many things. It does help that the check engine light is on, though.
If you can go to a place like Autozone, where they check your check engine light for free, and post what the code was, I can give you a place to start.
I do not mind helping you further with a proper diagnosis procedure either, if you can share your vehicle information.

Engine cranks but wont start

Usually if no rpm signal, the vehicle won't start. Engine cranking, did you check for spark at the spark plugs? The fuel pressure you listed may have been the initial prime. It sounds like no injector pulse. The rpm signal comes from crank sensor. If your missing rpm signal, may thought is the crank sensor.
Were there any applicable trouble codes?

We have a 2000 Lincoln TownCar. Problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The engine turns over with starter, but will not start. This is only on occasions that this happens. However the engine always runs smooth. Help. The...

Two things that may help you or them find the problem.

When it does this what is anti-theft light doing? Normal operation is when you turn key on it should come on for a couple of secs then turn off.If it starts flashing rapidly when key is in the on position then it does not see your key and will not start.

2nd thing is when it cranks but will not start does the check engine light come back on while cranking after about 10 secs? When you turn key to on position the check engine light should come on,as you start cranking the engine is should go out but as engine is cranking it should come back on while it is cranking within 10 secs. If it does not then the computer is not seeing the crankshaft position sensor and this is your concern. This will usually not set a trouble code either so it makes it hard to diagnosis unless it does it while they are checking it.

Starter kick back

If this is a gas engine, check the ignition coil or plug wires. A simple test...

Start the truck at night, then look under the hood while it's running. Don't use a flashlight or your headlights; it should be dark !

If you see sparks anywhere around the engine, you've found the problem. Now you can turn on a light to see where they're coming from - probably from a cracked ignition coil.

Good luck !
