Resetting TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

How do you reset the TPMS on a Chrystler 2002 Town and Country Van and how do you reset the perform service indicator after you have performed the oil change.

  • Anonymous Aug 19, 2008

I have a 2002 Chrysler Town & Country. Had new tires put on . The guys that put the tires on said one of the valves that previous installers put on was not the correct one and therefore had rusted on. Therefore, a new valve and sensor needed to be installed. They installed a new one. However, now the TPMS is saying 1 tire w/ high pressure....I've checked pressure.....they're all okay. Also, it says the TPMS needs to be reset after new tires are put on....how do I reset it?

I changed my own oil and performed the reset procedure that is indicated in the car manual. The Perform Service still indicates 0 miles. Is there another way to reset?

The link does not load with MSIE, Safari or FireFox. If the TPMS units are federally mandated for the customer, then the manufacturer's should be federally mandated to make them work. Countless garages have been powerless to reset my T

Warning lights van

that is the tire pressure monitoring system warning light, letting you know that one or more of your tire pressures is lower than spec. Some people have the light come on after service to wheels/tires. Damage to TPMS sensors is common when removing tires from wheels.

09 town & country chime ringing seatbelt always on

If it's your tire pressure monitoring system, then you may have a low tire. The tpms light in the dash will be on too. As the vehicle is moving, the tires generate heat which will increase the temperature inside the tire, which will also increase the pressure inside the tire, which will turn the tpms light off. The light only comes on when the tire is low so add air to the tires to bring them to the manufacturers recommended tire pressure on the placard on your drivers door or drivers door frame. I do not know of any tpms system that chime when a low tire situation is present. If it's actually the seatbelt causing the chime, then there should be a seatbelt light that comes on in the dash as well. The seatbelt sensor may be malfunctioning. Otherwise, the chime may be due to another issue. Check your owners manual for possible causes.

How to reset tire Pressure monitoring system? I have no manuel

There is no formal retraining procedure necessary. Drive vehicle for a minimum of 10 minutes while maintaining a continuous speed above 15MPH. During this time the system will learn the new sensor ID and will clear any DTCs automatically.

How do i reset the (tire low air pressure) warning light.I had a flat fixed and the light is still on.

On a 2002 Impala, the tire pressure monitor can be reset using the interrior light switch.
With the key in the "ON" position, turn the interrior lamps from OFF to ON three times within 3 seconds. The TPMS light should go out. If it does not go out, repeat the procedure. If it still does not go out, then you may need to have your tire monitoring system diagnosed and repaired.

After replacing a broken tire pressure sensor the tpms light came on. How do I reset it or turn it off? 2006 Kia Sportage.

The 2006 tire pressure monitoring system will automatically reset after driving approximately 20minutes above 20MPH. It is important to note that if you go below 20MPH during this diagnostic drive cycle the counter in the TPMS module wil reset requiring you to start over. The easiest thing to do is go on a highway. If after this drive cycle the TPMS warning light is still in you most likely have another problem in the system with a code stored in the module.

How to retrain tpms after tire rotation?

I have a 2005 with tire pressure monitoring also and was surprised when I rotated the tires that the system continued to work O.K. The manual says the dealer must retrain the sensors to recognize the tires but so far mine seem to be working just fine.
Retraining probable requires digital readout box to reset the computer and unless you know someone who has one the dealer is probably your best bet.
