Odometer doesn't move and RPM is showing while engine is on.

LOL! SIMPLE STUFF! FIRST FIGURE OUT IF YOUR CAR HAS AN ELECTRIC SPEEDOMETER OR CABLE DRIVEN ONE. THE ODOMETER IS USUALLY PART OF THE SPEEDOMETER SO IF THE CABLE IS BUSTED OR THE ELECTRICAL CURRENT TO IT HAS FAILED? IT WON'T WORK AT ALL. I BELIEVE A 1990 HAS A CABLE DRIVEN ONE SO JUST TRY REPLACEING THAT CABLE FIRST. U CAN GET IT AT ADVANCED OR AUTOZONE OR A DEALER IF U WANNA PAY OUT THE NOSE.....UR CHOICE.

In my 2002 Hyundai Accent, the meter where it shows x 10000 rpm used to just stay at one. Now it revs up to 3 when i accelerate. what does it mean?

Sounds like you rev gauge wasn't working and now it is . If you are sitting in the car , have it in neutral and depress the gas pedal your rev gauge should increase , if it never moved there's a problem , the wires at the back of the odometer were probably loose

my wild guess, no FSM on that.
is:
1: the VSS is dead.
the questions is where is the VSS , vehical speed sensor.
on most cars that depends on engine options and transmission options.

i think? the VSS tells the PCM speed, and the PC drives
KM meter and odometer.
and RPM is PCM input of Crank sensors
so id say fuse, but the odometer questions is more revealing

Speedometer went haywire and car stopped

define haywire.?

dead, off, and is odometer off too?
stopped, you mean the car stalled?

when the engine stalls you see the following (driving school 101)
1: quiet , now. from engine.
2: steering and braking get harder. up to 6 times harder.
3: RPM tachometer shows 0 RPM.
4: Speed drops and lands on zero as car stops or you run out of down hill free right.

so did engine stall? does it restart,?

When i tow my truck, does it count the number of miles moves on the odometer?

yes. The speedo works of the tail shaft revolutions regardless if the engine is running or the vehicle is being towed. It may not if the speedo is through the cpu unit and transmission module with the power off.

Blinkers come on then go off on their own, engine revs up on its own

i would start by looking for a bad connection at the battery and fuse boxes

Misfire error on cylinder 1. This is the only error. Engine idles at 1.5k. Sparkplugs, wires, fuel injector, cylinder compression and fuel pump assembly check out ok. Narrowing it down to intake manifold...

How many miles is on the odometer?

Does this happen when the engine is cold (during start up)?

A intake manifold leak will progressively get worst when the engine get to operating temperature (195-210F).

Carbon built up (on the underside) and inside the EGR passage tube can reduce performance at low rpm (1200 to 1800 rpm).

Cleaning up EGR + passage tube carbon built up is a dirty and time consuming task.
