Are you talking about the engine cooling system or a problem with your Auto A/C?

Either the heater core is plugged, or the vacuum motor that controls the flaps in the dash is not functioning or connected up properly to allow cold or hot air to come into the cabin, depending on whether you want air conditioning or heat.

Probably a stuck open thermostat or the thermostat is the wrong temp range for your vehicle.

First check coolant level and strength. If good condition most likely stuck open thermostat, just follow the upper rad hose to the engine. Remove the throttle cable bracket to access the 2 bolts holding the thermostat housing to top of engine. Make sure engine is cold before removing, you will loss a little coolant when replacing. Other causes could be plugged heater core, with engine running at operating temperature on gage. Follow the 2 heater hoses the the right side firewall (where they go thru into cab) one should be hot and the other warm (if the outlet is cold, heater core is plugged). The waterpump and cooling fan are direct drive off the engine and not usually an issue on this vehicle.

if the heater gets hot when it is idling but cools down when you are going down the road, suspect the thermostat. If the heat just comes and goes when driving down the road you are probably low on coolant, whit for the engine to cool and remove the radiator cap and refill the radiator, don't just try to fill it by putting collenty in the reservoir........GOOD LUCK

A low coolant level will do this as well as a thermostat being stuck in the open position cure is to replace the thermostat another cause is low coolant flow through the heater core and could be partially plugged flushing the heater core will fix this condition hope this helps

Have you checked the coolant level? If it's low, it will result in diminished heat, and could be the problem.

Could be a couple of things. The first thing that I would check would be the coolant level in the radiator, if that is low it can cause the heater not to blow hot air. The second thing I would find out is if the control to change from cold to hot is actually working? ( if it is a manual slider then the cable might have come off of the control behind the dash...if it is digital then there may be a wire off?) The third thing it might be is that your Heater Core went bad and will need to replaced. As I said above, I would check the coolant level first and go from there. Hope it helps!
