My civic without any rhymne or reason occasionally won't start

The battery was replaced on advice from an AA patrolman. this appeared to cure the fault but this lasted only a month then although the car was working perfectly well when parked for the night,in the morning without any warning it might not start. I have tried disconnecting the battery at night and reconnecting in the morning,so far the car has started O.K When I got an electrics test done the altenator was putting out around 12.8 amps but during this test the engine started hunting occasionally after the test and the engine was switched off there was no output from the battery. I don't want to go to the expense of a new altenator without concrete proof that is the fault I really hope you can help with this

I think your alternator is going bad. Do this use a voltage meter and when car is running test voltage on battery should be around 14 if not alternator is not working correctly.

Distributor? Only reason a car won't start is lack of fuel or improper ignition and maybe air starvation.

Car won't start without a jump but battery okay

wont crank or wont start.??
no car starts , if it cant crank. (unless push starter (M/T magic)
that is not a trans sensor its the PRN switch.
ill answer for, wont CRANK !
it wont crank even with a good battery (charged) or jump started.
1: bad start
2: bad wires to same.
so hot wire the starter small wire, the key start line is tiny.
cranks. , starter good, no crank starter bad or cables bad.
if it cranks hot wired, then the key line is dead.
easy, huh?

Hi Guys,
I have had this problem several times and first was solved by claring leaves from two drains under battery. Second time I did the pollen filter thing with silicon as hophouse did above, it is looking good so far.
