I believe these cars also have an emissions pipe connecting the two heads in the back by firewall and do become clogged

Check the throttle valve assembly for black /brown deposits causing minimum idle airflow to be off. If throttle valve is dirty, open with hand a clean with carb cleaner and toothbrush.

SOURCE: IAC Solenoid

Buy a can of spray carb/throttle body cleaner from a parts store and clean the throttle valve butterfly and IAC aka idle speed control motor, do this with the engine running, you will have to hold the idle hi to perform this or it will stall, use at least 1/2 can of cleaner, then shut down and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect and drive a few days to let the PCM relearn you driving habits.

SOURCE: 1990 Honda Prelude. Low idle after warm up.

Hopefully fixed the problem by setting the idle a little higher. I think the IACV is ok.

SOURCE: fast idle after warm up .already changed IAC valve

fast idle is many times caused by a engine intake vacuum leak, use a can of carb spray and spray the top of the engine for leaks, if u hit one u will hear the eng change idle speed, also look for split or leaking vacuum hoses.

SOURCE: IAC control valve. Locato\ion 2002 ford escape

If it's not idling and has problems starting, it's probably the IAC motor. It's located on the throttle body. Follow the airfilter box all the way to the engine, where the rubber flex hose attaches. The throttle body should be the first aluminum part you come to. Attached to the side you'll find small little aluminum part with a small wire harness attached. Unplug it, take the IAC motor off and clean inside with carb cleaner. This should fix the problem with the idle.

My 2000 ranger idles really low and sonetimes even dies. ihave to push gas pedal little bit to get it started

The Idle Air Control (IAC) is not working.... This is a very common problem and very easy to fix. The IAC will run you about $50 (USD) and the only tools needed is a 8mm socket. Disconnect the electrical connector, remove the 2 8mm hex screws, remove IAC. Reverse order to install.

It looks like the picture below

I have a 2002 ford taurus. check engine light is on. Auto Zone did a scan today and the error code was p1507 can you please tell me what i need to do to fix this problem.

possible problems

Vaccuum leak
failed IAC valve
open or short
air inlet plugged

P1507 means "Idle Air Control Underspeed Error". It can be most commonly caused by a vacuum leak, a damaged Idle Air Control (IAC) assembly or a stuck IAC valve that needs cleaning. Essentially, your engine isn't idling at high enough according to your computer's programming parameters. Many times this shows up in colder weather as you try and start your vehicle. It will usually die unless you put your foot on the gas pedal and raise the RPM's. I have also read where a clogged air filter might be the problem. I would try cleaning your IAC valve first.

My chevy with a 350 tbi dies when i put it reverse are drive does that mean it is out of time and the rear drivers side wheel locks up when goin in reverse what does that mean

You either have a bad Idle air control valve or your injectors are clogged. Try turning the steering wheel and turning on the AC and fan. If the idle goes down the IAC is bad. A normal IAC should raise the idle a little then settle when a load is put on th engine.

2002 Jeep Liberty 2WD 377l v6 won't idle when first started up.

it doesn't have to do with the battery. I just had this same problem. Clean the carbon out of the IAC and test to see if this solves the problem. Should it not, the next step is to replace the Throttle Position Sensor. This is a common problem with this model of jeep. The can of cleaner and the sensor only cost 45 bucks, and about an hour total to do.

Low idle with vibration and turns off when in reverse of drive every now and then and stirring wheel feel like its going to lock when turnign but all fluids have been checked and ok battery and alternator...

4cyl or V6?? Start at cleaning/replacing the IAC valve(idle air control valve),MAF sensor(V6 only) and cleaning the intake. At this time, I recommend replacing the air filter and sparkplugs(if not done recently). The IAC valve may be dirty or defective causing rough, low, or no idle. hopefully this helps

Car will crank start but immediatly turn off. it has at one time stayed idling but as soon as i put it on reverse just turned back off. fuel pump does sound like its coming on what else could it be? have...

Sounds like the Idle Air Control valve bad. Try giving it a little gas while cranking. If it starts but still dies with your foot of the pedal it points towards the IAC valve. Its also possible its a bad fuel pump but that needs special tools to test.
