My hood release cable broke and I can't get my hood to open. How do I manually open my hood to replace the cable

I haven't taken a look yet if I could get it open but would appreciate and help or suggestions on how to get it open.

If it broke under the dash then use a pair of pliers to grab the braded steel line and pull it to release the hood

Cable broke on hood release. It was having no issues and when it was last pulled it broke.

This is a tough one. you will probably have to get the car raised on a lift and look up in there to find the release and pull it with needle nose pliers. Before doing that, take apart the release handle inside the car and see if it is broken lose there. If it is, pull the cable with pliers. Good luck.

How do i open the hood manually the latch is broken. i have a black covered cable wire and the silver part of the wire is showing. i pull the latch nothing happens to release the hood

OK, if the cable is the part that broke AND it broke at the handle, then you can use a pliers or vise grip to grab the end and pull on it to pop the hood, if it broke somewhere inside the cable, then you will need some needle nosed pliers to reach under the hood and grab it there. if it broke off at the hood latch itself, then you will need to get/ make a hook or pushing rod to engage the mechanism directly to release the latch and then replace the cable the latch looks like this:

Broken hood release on 98 chev 1500. How can I get it open?

if it is broken at the handle you should be able to grasp the cable with pliers to pull it otherwise you will have to go out front of truck and the best way i found requires long arms, but you would have to use a flashlight and slide under front bumper and look upward to find cable/latch assembly. You may be able to do it through the grill but if cant see it through the grill under neath.if you in front of truck pull latch to right and it will release.

Hood release broke

you are going to have to either remove the panneling to get at the cable and pull it with vise grip or try to get up inside the hood from the front and release the latch that way . either way is going to be tough to get to.
