Your vehicle is equipped with an OBD II computer AND a link to connect OBD II computer to a Smog Check Analyzer or Data Scan Tool (available
at most auto part stores). There are two types of codes, bad codes and good codes. The good codes are the "Readiness Flags". These Readiness Flags
indicate that certain emissions systems which the OBD II computer has been monitoring have PASSED the test, indicating that those systems are
working properly. Then there are the bad codes. The bad codes are actual "Trouble Code". These codes indicate that the OBD II computer
has detected a problem with in the emissions system. The Trouble Code will specifically indicate the component and problem which was found.
Newer vehicle's have very complex codes in the thousands.
"Readiness Flags" do not cause the "Check Engine" light to illuminate, but may cause a vehicle to fail the smog test.
In order to set all the proper "Readiness Flags" the OBDII system must complete at least one drive cycle (in some cases
two or three). A drive cycle is a sequence of internal tests which the OBDII computer runs while your vehicle is being driven. This insures
all emissions systems are functioning properly. Only then will your vehicle pass the smog inspection. A drive cycle usually requires one
week of driving.

SOURCE: Nissan primera, engine management light

Hi Kev,

Your Nissan Primera has an on-board diagnostic computer which can detect malfunctions in either engine or transmission.

When the Engine Management light remains lit, this means some faults are present and need investigating.

From what you've described, one of the issues is indeed related to the transmission, but you will need to have the trouble codes (DTC's) extracted from your vehicle's computer, in order to determine what requires repair.

Whenever power is disconnected (i.e. the battery) and re-connected, this resets your vehicle's computer momentarily, until such time as it detects the fault again.

Recommend you either have your local dealer extract the codes (for a small 15min labor fee), or learn to extract the codes yourself, using a suitable jumper wire.

SOURCE: how to change brake discs nissan primera

Changing brake disc is a lot of work. Why not just go to your mechanic so that it will be more accurate and functional. But if you really want to know it. I have researched a video presentation for it at here.

2007 Nissan Primera 2.0 ltr station wagon. It won't shift into any gearshift. It starts well idles but doesn't shift to move.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

Lots of ideas in the link. Check the transmission fluid level. If that doesn't work, the best course of action is to find a local auto electrician and check for codes. A professional grade bi-directional scan tool computer can command shift solenoids to operate and verify they did.

My 92 nissan primera wont start lights work on dash board turn key on wont start

turn headlight on - either with another person or facing a wall.
try starting. If lights dim it is a bad battery ot connection to the battery.
If not it is in ur starter ckt - relay, starter motor, starter solinoid.

I have a Nissan Primera 2002. The battery appears to be fine, although when attempting to start the motor there is a click sound and no engagement of starter motor. What can be the cause of this problem.

Chances are, you have a problem with the solenoid contacts inside the solenoid that is mounted on the starter assembly. It is a very common problem with a lot of the starters used on some Nissan products. Here is a very good site that explains the repair procedure, or you can just have the starter assembly replaced.

I turn the key and get nothing. The battery checks good and I have power to the starter. Dash lights come on. Battery leads are clean and tight as well as the negative cable to ground on the engine.

My Nissan Primera EGT (1993 Reg'd) has an immobiliser, which was causing a similar problem. Turned on ignition and nothing. The immobilizer was faulty to the starter motor, so we disconnected it from the starter and left the immobilizer on the fuel line. Starts now, no problem and the immobilizer would still stop the potential thieves as they'd have no idea without the immobilizer key why the engine will no more than start then stutter to a big full stop!!.
The 240SX is probably a more modern Nissan but I bet there's an immobilizer built into it somewhere. You may need to take it to a Nissan expert or Dealer to check out. It's almost definitely something weird like an immobilizer or maybe the starter motor's blown it, but then you'd have heard the graunching noises that starter motors make when they're about to clap out, they don't usually just go. There may also be some disconnection of wires to the alternator, which amplifies the spark to the engine, but the starter motor would still turn, your engine just wouldn't fire up with the too weak spark. So if nothing moves, it's most likely an immobilizer or possibly (but unlikely) a sudden death starter motor.
