Dashboard lights and tail lights won't turn on

The other day I noticed that my dashboard light wouldn't turn on. I thought great I gotta get new fuses. Well then a couple days later I was pulled over and found out from the officer that my tail lights were out. (No ticket thank god) Why would my dashboard lights and tail lights not work when the head lights, brake lights and hazard lights all work fine? What can I do to fix this myself with out having to pay an arm and a leg to have some mechanic rip my dash board apart?

Yes, it has a tilt wheel but I don't ever move it. I should mention that all weekend long the lights didn't work, then yesterday they worked all day. (just came on in the morning when I started the car and turned on the head light when I went to work) This morning, nothing again.

I have the exact same problem. I am thinking about going to a dealer but I don't want to get ripped off. Every time I drive over a bump or dip, they'll turn on and then later turn off. Every other light works except my dashboard and tail laights.

Tail lights and dashboard lights out at same time

The problem is %90 likely to be a blown fuse. I was recently driving around at night, conscious of the fact that my dashboard (gauge) lights were out, but was unaware of my tail (driving) lights being out as well. This lead to an unpleasant run-in with the law.

i fought the law and well,
the law won.

but seriously, look in your fuse box, im not aware of exactly the suburban but i drive a '97 S-10 and they are under the steering column/dash. You gotta lay on your back to get up in there alot of the times. I know in newer chevy's they're under the hood but, should be a 20A fuse, good luck.

Dashboard Lights not working

I experienced the same after a car detail (inside and outside) exercise. I checked this and another forum. In my case the issue was that the Dimmer dial (to the left of the dashboard panel) had been turned OFF and it was depending on the auto-lights. Whenever I moved from Parking to R or D gears, the dashboards would go off. After I set the Dimmer back to some setting (Full), the dashboard lights stayed ON as before. I did not have to play around with any fuses. Looks like the dial was turned to off position during the inside cleaning.
