I have an audi a4 2001 b6.my fuel gauge has not been working since i bought it.the DIS works,so its not the sender.removing fuses dont do the job.unpluging cluster from behind fuel gauge and reconnecting does the job.it will then short out and eventually ping to past full after a few turns on the ignition.if i jump in the car and after a good few hours or overnight maybe, and turn the key after unplugging and pluggin back in previously, the gauge might be fine,or if i see its shorted out,i will lightly touch the plug at the back, and it might work.cant figure out what to test with an ohmeter and dont know what to look for etc.im a novice.do i test the plug(very small openings)or do i test the pins on plug.i think the plug behind rev meter is the info sending one,so help me please.its shorting out whenever and i cant decifer whether its damp,or what.

SOURCE: No power to dash or dome light in 2003 jeep tj.

As far as the guage issue it is most likely a problem with the body control module, have a trouble code test run on the BCM to determine the issue, the stalling is caused by the loss of the idle strategy learning when the battery went dead, the best thing to do is the following procedure I use to clear this issue.

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls (or very low idle) near or at idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

SOURCE: 1993 ford explorer fuel pump fuse keeps blowing

Josh. The best and safest way to find a short is to find it. But, the fuse wonwon't give yo time. So, Let's create time and replace the fuse with an aitomatic fuse/circuit breaker. It will cycle automaticly until you locat the problem. When yo locate the short it will quit cycling.. Just put it in place of the original fuse and listen. Do not exceed the original fuse capcity. they are available at autoparts stores. good luck and if this helps, fill our the questions fixya asks. please

SOURCE: i have an Audi A6 19TDI Reg in 2001. after

Take the battery off and fully charge it - get a hydrometer to test it - its pointless going on if the battery is the cause of the problem.

If the battery is fully charged and you put it back on and the dials are dead - you have a serious problem.

You could need a complete new dashboard assembly - I had a Renault where this happened and it was big bills time - a new dashboard.

In the old days rust killed cars - now faulty electronics kill them - a dash could be $750 or more an ECU to manage the engine could be more.

It might need a garage with the correct computerised test equipment to fully diagnose.

GOOD LUCK

My 2001 audi A4 b6 has fuel indicator issue which the needle doesnt go when i already filled full tank Any solution

I've never worked on imports, but I would check to see if that gauge has a fuse that needs to be replaced. Look in the fuse box. Sometimes the cover has a print on it to identify what each fuse supplies. Hope this helps, good luck.

Audi a4 fuel gauge stuck on passed max

99 audi a4 no gas gauge stuck on E

Your fuel sending unit isn't working. Most of the time it's a broken wire on the sender or dirty contacts on the resistive element. Remove the sender and repair the wire and clean the contacts. It's accessible through a port in the trunk.

Have the speed sensor checked, that's mounted on the side of the tranny, that operates the speedometer. As far as the fuel gauge, probably the fuel sending unit is shot which is in the gas tank.

My gas gauge doesn't work in my 2003 bonneville. What can i do to fix this problem, along with my broken gas gauge my heater in my drivers side seat is no longer working, i would appreciate any help thanks...

It might not be anything wrong with your fuel sending unit. Keep an eye on your other gauges. I own a 2004 Pontiac Bonneville GXP. All of my gauges have started acting erratically. It started with my Temp. gauge, moved on to my speedometer, and now my oil pressure , fuel level and batty volt gauges are affected too. Its a very common problem with GM vehicles.

940 1991 volvo estate

Your problem is fuel gauge is hanging up on the fuel pump. The slide bar/fuel sender is located inside the fuel tank alongside the fuel pump. Today I removed my fuel tank and replaced the pick up strainer on my fuel pump and previously my fuel gauge didn't work, but all I needed to do was slightly bend the slide mechanism and my fuel reading read correctly on my gauge. Previous to that I showed no reading on the dash meter.
