Hello My Ford Ranger 2007 hood latch only works if the vehicle is switched on. I disconnected my battery and closed the hood, now i cannot re-open the hood to reconnect my battery. and my window is left open... is there a way i could add an alternative power source in order to get my hood to open? thank you
You can add power by plugging a socket into your lighter hole and connect that to an external battery. I used the wiring of my "car vacuum cleaner" designed to work off the lighter. Connect, switsh ignition on and pull relese. There is enough power to activate latch.
Unless you have added some kind of aftermarket junk to your hood release, it is controlled by a cable, not by any electrical circuits.
SOURCE: i have a broken hood latch and the hood is down
I think your cable came loose from the latch. try to see it through the grill, maybe you can get to it with a long flat tip screwdriver
SOURCE: Sunroof won't close
clean the runners on the sunroof watching out for trapped debris. try lubricating the runners with a fine lubricant with a clothe, make sure no debris caught in motor also.
SOURCE: battery is dead, cannot open the hood, auto power locks
I found a few solutions to your problem here:

A lot of them have some merit, depending on whether you want to actually manually open the hood or use the inovative options posted there. Either way, i hope this helps and best of luck with your problem!

I bought the vehicle second hand but i am pretty sure no one would go the extra mile to add that extra feature.. do the other vehicles of this kind not work like this? I too was surprised when i realized it at first and then completely forgot when i slammed the hood this time, now I'm pretty much screwed!
