HAND BRAKE RELEASESD CAR WILLNOT MOVE
Release hand brake. Pull it again. While feeling for the normal tension have an assistant listen at the rear wheels to see if the brakes are moving and releasing when you release the hand brake. Possible causes:
-binding or stuck cable
-broken parking brake handle ratchet mechanism
-seized calipers, or if drum brakes faulty drum brake hardware/springs
Only have 25 pounds compression in each cylynder 2005 alantra gt car did not get hot
are you sure timing belt not missing some teeth or nuchets i would turn it by hand to see if the timing marks line up sounds like i said before to the same question timing belt jumped causing valve damaged they all do this to rebuild head and valves is as exspensive as a used one from the scrap so check the price for a head assembly or rebuild you old one and a scrap head price as well
I only have 25 poumds compression in each cylinder car did not get hot
sounds like the tbelt jumpped and bent some valves or overheated and warped the head to really find out you have to remove the head and send it to a shop for testing other than put a camera down in the cylinders and check for valve damaged but its hard to see i would go for the head removal i am sure the timing belt jumped and damaged valves were the spark plugs ok or broken off
PARKING BRAKE/ HAND BRAKE
Check the cable to ensure it hasn't been stretched. Does it have tension on it when you release it? It should have. A stretched cable will often engage the parking brake, but not release it. This is due to the condition of your hardware in the drum itself. I recommend removing the brake components and either replacing them, or cleaning and greasing them to restore proper function. Check for cracked/broken springs and worn surfaces of course. Sometimes the hangers and mounts for the cable break off or become loose. Inspect those for rust/corrosion. Please remember to use wheel chocks and safety stands when under a vehicle.
Hand brake releases but drum brakes still locked
Parking brake cables are broken, rusted or frayed. You need to replace this cables. Driving around like that will cause the rear brakes to overheat causing probably damage to rear brakes and bearings.
