2002 Ford Crown Victoria - Page 8 Questions & Answers
I own a 2004 mercury grand marqui gs with dead radio
this means u need to pull the radio out of the dash and est the connector for power, there should be two wires with 12 volts present with the key on, check the fllowing wires:
Radio Battery Constant 12v+ Wire: Violet/Light Blue
Radio Accessory Switched 12v+ Wire: Yellow/Black
My car wont start
Check and tighten the clamps, especially the negative. And check all of your fuses and relays. If those are ok, have the alternator looked at.

Check the hoses underneath the cup holder area under the dash and make sure theres no obvious hoses disconnected. If they are ok, more than likely your selection switch is bad. You take off the plastic trim from around it starting from the passenger side of the car and remove the (4) 7mm bolts, carefully disconnect the colorful hoses and the wiring and replace the whole thing. I hope this helps
Wont start will crank but wont start
TWO THINGS..CHECK THE FUEL INERTIA SWITCH LOCATED IN TRUNK ON LEFT SIDE .ITS A LITTLE BUTTON .PRESS THAT IF IT CLICKS THEN IT HAD TO BE RESET..ALSO LOOK AT THE LIGHT ON THE DASH THAT BLINKS WHEN THE KEY IS OFF..IF YOU TRY TO START THE CAR AND THAT LIGHT IS BLINKING FAST THEN YOU HAVE A BAD KEY..AND IT WILL NEED TO BE REPROGRAMMED AT THE DEALERSHIP USUALLY..THOUGH SOME LOCKSMITHS CAN PROGRAAM KEYS...
Turn signals stop working
IT IS PROBABLY THE MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH ..THAT IS WHAT YOU USE TO TURN THE BLINKERS ON..TRY TURNING ON YOUR EMRGENCY BLINKER BUTTON AND IF THEY WORK THAT WAY IT IS NOT THE FUSE...THE MULTI FUNCTION SWITCHES ARE PRONE TO FAILURE...
Parking brake
It should be a push pedal on the left side near the fuse box. the release is just above it.
Adjusting headlights on 2002 Crown vic
I noticed this is 6 months old so I don't know if you have figured it out yet but heres an answer for you. On the back of the headlights there are 3 plastic heads, they turn but spray some wd40 or something on them first. You might have to take the headlights assembly out to get a good bite on them.
2002 Crown Vic turned off while driving won't start
Wow money hungry, they are. Did you try to reset the fuel pumps inertia switch located in the driver side of the truck, towards the top. I am not sure if its behind the carpeting but it is a small box that has a button on the top of it that you press in to reset the fuel pump. This usually happens when you hit a large pot hole or you get in an accident.
Odometer light out
This is fairly simple but is in a tight spot. You need to take the panel that has the rear defrost and truck button on it. Then you need to get an 8 mm and take out the casing that surrounds the insturment cluster (usually it is black), I believe you need to put the gear shift to the lowest gear to get enough room to pull the casing out. Then get a star tool to unscrew the cluster and pull it out toward you and then remove then remove the harnesses that plug into the back, be careful not to break the cable that is connected to the back of the cluster. Once all is complete on the back of the cluster there are black clips that have a socket on the inside which holds the bulbs. To pull these out you need twist these then they will release. At this point you can swap the bulbs with another bulb that you really dont need like the seatbelt light or just do the best thing and replace the bulb. Its been a while since I changed a bulb, so if I missed anything post it to inform others that may read.
My trunk opens when i put the car in reverse.
I would test the harness that is currently connected to the button, if you are not getting power you can trace the wire and see if there is a break in the line or if a fuse is blown. If there is power then you have a break in the line that leads to the component that releases the trunk lever or the component itself may be faulty.
Another option would be to remove the harness that is connected and plug in the other harness that is tucked away behind the dash. Ford supplies two harnesses, one to release the trunk without the key and the other harness is a security feature which needs the ignition to be on in order to pop the trunk. This prevents anyone from accessing your trunk without the key.

I looked at your previous post as to the repair you had done and you had blower speed controller replaced. This component is located under the hood on the firewall next to blower motor and only controls the blower fan speeds. So the concerns you have posted here would not be effected by this.
You have described 3 totally different problems here. The problem with your heat is that the engine coolant temp is not reaching the temp that it needs to be. See EATC will keep the fan to the very minimum setting if set to the floor postion until engine coolant temp reaches 122 degrees F. The problem you are describing here is either the engine thermostat is stuck open or you have a restriction in coolant flow to the heater core or possibly the engine cooling fan is stuck on keeping engine to cool.
The problem with your electric door locks is the door lock actuator or the wiring to it inside the drivers door is bad.
The problem with the bulb in the shifter indicator is a loose or corrioded connection to that bulb.
Sorry to give you such bad news. Hope this helps you out.
Heat
replace the blower motor controller. ford part # 19e624.call your local ford parts store to get it. I am a ford technition and this is a common problem but the new part has been revised so it will last a lot longer. 9 times out of 10 this fixes the problem and a new EATC is not needed.

you need to jack that side of the engine up. take the right side motor mount bolt loose then jack the engine up from underneath. be sure to use a block of wood or somthing so you dont bust the oil pan
