Broken or loose front seat

Hello Jerry, There are several ways for your seat to mess up. What you may find is the frame of the seat is splitting due to metal fatique. The metal frame is a welded part with a sheetmetal base. Over time this base can develop cracks which spread as the metal strains to hold together. This is a more difficult repair to make, sometimes it is more trouble to fix than getting another seat from a Salvage yard. In either case, the seat will be easier to work on if it is removed from the car.An automotive upholstery shop is the type of repair shop which can do the repair. The big problem is having an air rachet small enough to unbolt the seat mounts through the floor. There will be rust, but most penetrating oils smell and will ruin the inside of your car if used. You can find a replacement seat in Salvage yards by going to Car-parts.com which will put a Nationwide search for your seat to match the color. Or you can use an Upholstery shop and have them strip the upholstery and switch the frame. There may be a chance of getting a new seat frame, but it will be expensive. Now you may have another problem which would be in the gear and motor for an electric seat track. The gears can wear out and then the seat will not be steady in its track. I would bet that if you look under the seat and pull up on a front corner, that the seat will rock from a fractured seat plate under the upholstery.I once fixed my Drivers seat with a longer bolt and a short piece of tailpipe. I drilled a bolt hole into the pipe and secured the pipe against the frame with the bolt. I did not have to remove the seat to do this. But if the seat were taken off, someone could probably weld a heavy piece of metal on the weak side. My electric seat worked fine with the added metal in place. Again, you may get into something being more trouble than it was worth.I hope my solution was helpful.

My crown victoria will go in reverse but wont

Linkage is suspected. Does the selector go into gear? Something could be blocking it physically, how long since the filter was changed.

Brake light fuse out but the tail lights are on

The brake lamp fuse in your vehicle protects circuits that not only go to the brake lamps themselves, but also go to the Antilock Brake Controller, the Speed Control Servo, the Shift Lock Actuator, The Hazzard Flasher unit and the multifunction (turn signal) switch. You will need to trace all of the circuits involved to determine where the circuit is shorting to cause the fuse to blow.

While the car is idling,

Hello! The Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECTS) is more then likely faulty...But before you change it we need to check for a proper chassis ground...If you have a multimeter and a wee bit of experience using it set it to read X1 Ohm scale...Place one probe on the center of the negative battery post and the other on bare metal of the engine block...You must read very near to zero ohms....If you do not and (read 1500-2000 ohms)as an example; a ground strap needs to be added from the negative terminal of the battery to the engine block and also to the chassis...
However, if the reading is zero then I would suggest changing out the ECTS...See diagram below...

LOUD RATTLE IN FRONT END

If you have struts on that vehicle, the strut bearings would be a good place to start; however, it would need to be put on a rack and looked at a little closer for loose or damaged parts. The squeal could be low/dirty steering fluid, even loose or worn belt. Could just be age on the rack, if it isn't broke don't fix it is the rule of thumb there.
