My model CD-88 programmable compact disc player player will go around but no music comes from it. It is one that you can use in your car tape player as it has an adapter. What is wrong with it ? Thank you. Estella Huffman grandmahuff@wcoil.com

Likely a bad backup battery inside the clock, or a capacitor that is leaking a charge.

You need to open it up to check the parts inside. First look around to see if there is any plastic parts that are damaged. This might account for the noises inside. If you can not see anything wrong. Get a magnifying glass or lens and look at the lazer lens. Make certain the power is NOT on for any of these tests. If you see any odd light patterns or damage on the lazer lens it will not play discs. Unless it was an expensive model it will not be worth repairing if the lens is damaged. Do not open the unit if the model is still under warranty. In which case contact the maker of the unit.

There is a pretty good chance that this boombox uses the same plugs as sony so you should check their PS2 fat cables and their PS2 power brick cables to see if any of those match. Ps2 power cords
