A JVC LT42XM48 LCD Television set. Takes power has no picture or sound.

As a first step , if it is controlled via the remote, check that the remote batteries are good and that it is functioning ok. Does the tv show anything att all? If it does come on but shows nothing then it might be that the source selection is on the wrong kind of source, you can find on the remote whether this is so by going to the source menu which should probably be on digital. (I am assuming that you only have digital broadcasts where you are. If there is no picture whatsoever ubplug the set and check whether the internal fuse(s) are ok.)

TV will not switch on

Fault in the main power supply regulator board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size. Whichever the brand of it may be.

I have a LT-42E478 and the left side of the screen is dull, what to do?

http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In some models of LCD TVS; the backlight inverter will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel. If so, it can't be replaced. In this case; a panel replacement is the only repair. Type in the brand name of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window, and press enter to get all related posts. It will make surf easy.

Replaced panel, mother board, analog board and

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$???????

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $100

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well, so if you would like to view them check it again soon. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

SCREEN LOCK WITHOUT A REMOTE

Without a remote control, you can't unlock it. If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one. To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability. Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have. Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the site http://electrohelponline.blogspot.com/ Check this site too. http://remotesearch.blogspot.com/ Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops. Type in the brand name of your device, in the search box [at the top right] of the display window, and press enter to get all related posts. It will make surf easy.

My JVC TV wont turn on, the blue LD at the front of the TV comes on, when i press the power button the blue LED goes off and i hear a click on the TV but it wont turn on.

Look at the power supply board, look for capacitors ( look like black or brown cans) that have their silver tops bulging. There is a cross on the top designed to open in a failure so the capacitor doesn't pop. Even if the top is still closed, the slightest bulge indicates a failure. Unsolder all bulging capacitors and replace with same spec. For instance, in a bad Samsung there are 4 1000mf 25v 105C rated caps that always go bad, same symptoms. The caps are about $3-4/pc in USA.
