I have a hotpoint microwave replaced the hood
I expect you will find you now have a short circuit bi polar switch. It means that as long as there is power to the unit, it will be on permenantly. It is part of the control panel.

Bottom element in oven not
It may well be open circuit. Remove from the mains supply before attempting to remove the covers and to remove/test the element.
Most online suppliers, espares etc will supply replacement elements by model number.
Hope that helps.

Internal fuse blown , replaced
There are three to four switches that monitor that microwave. If any of them are bad it won't work. More then likely it's the monitor switch. There's a primary and a secondary switch. Take the cover off and look for the tech sheet it will show you which ones they are. They are around the door latch area...good luck.
Why is there a humming noise coming from the
That is because the power transforme is located in that area and being a transformer uses iron laminations to transform the energy from the primary winding to the secondary winding/s using magnetism caused by the alternating currents. This in turn produces eddy currents that excite the iron and cause vibration to be set up, (the principle is similar in a loudspeaker). That is where the noise is coming from.
Tightening up the laminations may help but it is normal for a small amount of humming/buzzing noise dependent on the manufacturing process of the transformer.
I hope that explains it for you.
Will not heat, you can
Your probably hearing just the fan. If the primary part, (the magnatron), is bad you'll get no heating. With the cost of microwaves dropping dramatically you may be better off buying a new one, rather than replaceing the magnatron.
BTW, replacing the magnatron is not a DIY job.

Oven tabel is tuning and
Your mag tube (what does all the heating) is shot. On average this will cost 180-280 to have fixed. Might be better to replace this one
Wont heat, burning rubber smell, hotpoint
If there is spark please do not switch on unless you have confirmed the fault. It is possible that the Magnetron is leaking and sparking to the ground. It is quite possible that insect can get into the oven and create soft spots. When you switch on these will create a short and make the voltage jump and in the long run damage the magnetron.
So Remove cover after disconnecting , check for dirt/moisture in the cabin, if so wipe clean and dry, check the magnetron and area clean and use an jet air to clean off.
Now keeping clear switch on , use a cup of water inside to test.
If you notice any buring smell shut off as the magnetron or the main HT capacitor can be faulty. replace with same type.
If there is no heating the magnetron/capacitor/temperature cut off is faulty
The turntable on my hotpoint
Check to see if the glass is fitting properly on the motor slots. Sometimes they can work loose - which will make it not turn. Good luck!

Tried to replace the surface light bulbs on my
Yes you should replace the fuse which in the control department. You must remove the cover which is one unit the top, left and right panel.
Also sometime the bulb holder wires might have be loose or burned out and been disconnect so this have create an open circuit. So you can have a visual check of these wires but since you have the oven panel removed have a check of loose or overheated wires.
Take care to remove electric plug and avoid come in contact with the magnetron capacitor since this can evacuate instant high voltage and might burn your hands, and this hurts very bad for more than a week.
We have a link with the parts layout of your microwave which can help you.

Having just taken delivery of
Somehow in the process of selecting the language, the new selection isn't being "set", and that's usually by hitting some button to change it permanently. Refer to the manual and review your steps. It's entirely possible that the manual is erroneous, and an extra button will have to be pushed to seal it.
I found this blog on manualsonline.com:
i cannot change the language on my hotpoint i've tried everything in the manual any ideas

Same problem here
When moving the machine into the house the language was accidentally changed to something I can only guess is Czech. Does anyone know how to reset the machine or change the language back to English?
Many many thanks.

RE: language problems
You need to press the bottons stated on the manaual for a few good seconds until it beeps. Once it beeps will turn off, once you turn it back on you can then change the language to English again.
Perhaps that will help.
Anyway, good luck, thanks for using FixYa, and hope this helps.

Hotpoint stove model RF7640S1HT.
The white colour wires are the common one and should be 0 volts and the red is the live one. The two white wires are because the common connection it usually double in many points since it connect all common of the appliance together. So you are in the correct way the two wires are both common. In your case should be connected together however the voltage difference even the 40V is not normal. However you can check the voltage difference of both the white wires with metal body of your stove which must be 0V.
