It _could_ be a disk-drive problem -- excessive "retry" operations within the disk-drive, while trying to write data to the disk-drive, or while trying to read from the disk-drive.
Search online for "Hitachi Drive Fitness" testing software, and run it.
If the disk-drive is "out-of-warranty", consider replacing it, before it completely "fails".

I have a imminent failure
The motherboard is quering the 'S.M.A.R.T.' status of the disk-drive,
and the disk-drive is reporting that it is about to "fail".
So, your motherboard is showing that "Imminent failure -- press F1 to ignore this alert" message.
Take your computer to a qualified technician, to see if it is "too late" to recover any files from your disk-drive, and/or to install a new disk-drive, and to install Windows.
How to download the driver
I am not familiar with Linux but have you checked your Bios to see if Sata Hard Drive is recognized in there??? Most of the time you have to set the bios to recognize a Sata drive because 90% of Hard Drives are still IDE and most bios software is still recognizing the IDE drives. I know I had to reset everything on my Motherboard and Bios when I changed over from an IDE to SATA Hard Drive.

Hi
where is the jumper to
Hi
There are no jumpers to set on a SATA drive since they all use individual interfaces with the motherboard.
All you can do is connect the drive you want as master to the first SATA header, slave to the second, and then set the boot priority in BIOS.
They don't have jumper pins like the old days.
Post again if you have questions, and if this helps would you rate my post?

Hello Spawn, hi, pop in your Operating System CD rom, (like windows cd rom installer), boot first on the CD drive, usually pressing F11, for PC, then read and follow instructions on the screen.
If you are a PC user, and want to install windows, follow instructions above until the screen reaches where you will select a drive to have your windows installed, after selecting, then the installer automatically formats your drive. Hope this answers your question.
