Trouble with installing Windows CE

You do not install Windows CE, it is built into the Cassiopeia. What the CD is is the software for your computer to interact with the Cassiopeia.

You will want http://www.hpcfactor.com/ftp-root/software/microsoft/activesync/activesync-38/MSASYNC.EXE

Lost data?

leave the backup battery in the PDA and bring it back to life with this how to ;)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=l0TT5CnbwBQ

if that doesn't help you may need to give the battery a little kick-charge for the PDA to recognize it again. the PDA "thinks" there's not battery if the battery voltage is below 2Volt.
to "kick-charge" the battery just get a AC adaptor with at least 5V and 1A (a.k.a. 1000mA) with 2 wires and connect them to the battery pins (with "+" and "-" correct!)

if you have your PDA lying in front of you with the display down and the battery cover opened, the pins of the battery are as following:

left: plus
middle: charging/temperature (not important for hand-charging)
right: minus

connect the wires of the AC adaptor correctly and let it "kick-charge" for about 5minutes (but NEVER let it charge any longer if the battery is getting hot!!!!)

after that, the PDA should recognize the battery again because the voltage is more than 3Volt again.

but don't (!) try to power it up after kick-charging!
the batterys voltage is higher than 3Volt again, but it takes just a few seconds to empty it again if u try that.
it's only for the PDA to "see" the battery again ;)

EM 500 RIBON CABLE TORE how to replace?? HELP!!

It might be possible to repair the tear. You'd need to bond a plastic backing to the back of the ribbon to support it. Clean off the front layer to expose the torn conductor ends then paint a thin strip of conductive epoxy or car heater matrix repair along each of the flat wires. Finish off by covering (when set) with scotch tape. Everything needs to be completely squeaky clean (use alcohol) before you start.

CASIO E-125 no backlit

Usually the ribbon cable connection that powers the backlight is the problem. If you remove the four screws in the back and take off the back cover. (note that there are two tabs on both sides of the cover half way up)You can see the white ribbon cable on the left above the battery back housing. Gently wiggle it and see if the backlight goes on. The cable is attached with a small brown insert that holds it in. It is removable so you might be able to get an electronics shop to replace the cable connection or the cable itself.

External batteries

Sounds to me like you have a winning plan of attack. I did the same thing a couple years back, bought one of those 4XAA battery holders with a little slide switch and put a jack on the end of the wire...worked fine. Then I bought a 6V 1500 mAh rechargeable battery from Radio Shack that was made for r/c cars and such. It worked great too. Never had problem one with either setup.

BE-300-How do I open it to remove the touch screen?

As I remember it has some plastic bulges that fit into some indentations. Some gentle prying toward the bottom should show you some success. To get the things that hold it together apart you need to press in on one part and lift up on the other, but don't remember which. If you don't get it email me and I will go dig my old one out of the junk box and see which is which. It, by the way has a good screen/touchscreen I think, the light circuit got busted on it and I can't get parts.

Overclocking em-500

1) Back up your device since we will be removing both batteries from your PocketPC. 2)Remove all 5 screws (4 in the back and one underneath the rubbery grip sticker on the side). NOTE: Be very careful with the sticker on the side. I just pried it up with my finger nail to get it started, but the adhesive part split off from the rubbery grip. I then had to pry up the adhesive part from the side of my EM-500. I got them back together in the end, so no harm done - just something to look out for.

E -100 Help

Casio had a cable that had a serial port on one side and a connector to the E-1XX on the other side. Activesync works through this: I searched on Casio E-100 sync cable serial in Yahoo. It found two hits for a cable under $40. That should allow you to install programs over your serial port. I have persoanlly only used Etronics form the list of two and they did what they said they would do.
