Transferring Files
Many years ago I transfered my SHARP organizer files too my first Palm III. The Sharp offered a file export option. I exported to CSV format and then from CSV to the Palm pdb.
Check the CASIO boards also.
Casio em-500 deleting mail programs!!!
I believe they are in unit's ROM, which is non-reprogrammable. Hence, you won't be able to delete anything from there. On the positive side, they don't occupy your main memory, so there's really no harm in letting them dwell in your PDA. :)
My E-125 isn't working properly...
If your craddle has DC power input that charges the PDA while in craddle, try setting the power configuration so that when the PDA is on external power, there is no blank screen timeout, and no automatic shutdown (it's in the Settings menu). This way, it won't power down while in craddle, and you won't get this problem you're having.
I can't perform Active-Sync with my Serial Cable to Casio E-100!?
You might try this....
Assuming that you deleted a file you shouldn't have, perform a hard reset on the Casio. You know the type, the type that will erase everything from memory and reset the device to like new. I think you hold down the power button while pushing the reset or something like that if I remember correctly.
If you've already reinstalled activesync, they you would be all set.
BE 300 on xp home ed.
http://www.abfnet.com has a bunch of be'ers that can help you - you can also search the forum for ton's of answers.
One thing, if you have Microsoft Activesync on your system pc connect won't work unless you shut off the activesyncs access to usb ports. Just a thought.
E-125 dark screen
Bingo!
You hit the problem on the head. If you can still see an image, albeit extremely faint, and the Casio is still working, i.e. playing an mp3 file or whatever, then you definitely have a problem with the backlight. More times than not, this is either a daughterboard problem or a connection problem (rarely have I seen an actual bulb failure though it can happen). One of the more common causes is the tiny ribbon cable connector on the daughterboard. You might try to disassemble it, clean the contacts of the ribbon and reassemble the device.
I've also heard of people squeezing in the side of the case to temporarily effect repairs...this is normally more ominous.
Casio e-100 questions......help!
Are you trying to install programs that run on your desktop to the pda? If that's the case, you cannot do it. The softwares for pda need to be written and compiled for your particular cpu and os.
Synching Groupwise with a Cassiopeia BE300
Check out Intellisync 5.01. It works for us, but it definitely is not as simple as with a Palm.
There are a few quirks, but it does work. My biggest complaint was that you have to manually copy their "Windows CE Autorun Manager" to your startup folder or the Groupwise info. will not automatically be sync'd everytime you sync with ActiveSync.
In their defense though, I think most of the issues are because of ActiveSync.
Help IrDA WOES!!
Check the PC connection setting on your EM-500 for IrDA connection. You will also have to change the speed settings to match that on the PC.
You should have "IR activesynch" icon under start - programs -connections. Tap on this to connect through the IR port.
Help with E125!
Before turning off the device close all applications running in the background.
If this solves your problem it is time to do a full cleanup & adding some application like Gigabar or KillMe to help you quickly close the unused applications to free required memory.
Cassiopia EM500 sync issue
First of all ensure that the port selected on the EM-500 for PC connection is the same as your actusl connection - i.e. USB or serial.
There were some problems with the EM-500 cradle which would not allow communication to be established between the PDA & the PC/Laptop.
Contact Casio for rectification. It is done free of charge.
Can't delete a program EM-500
If all else fails...
Just do a hard reset...you know, hold down the power button and pust the reset button in the hole on the back side of the casio....of course you will loose everything you've installed and will have to reinstall, but sometimes that seems to be the simlest way.
Universal Remote software?
You cannot find remote software for E-125 simply because the range of the IR emitters on E125 is simply too short.
If you are willing to di some surgery on the device - switch it for a higher range one from say E-100 - the earlier versions software should work on E-125 also.
Screen problem with my Cassiopeia E-100
Well, there is good news and bad news....
The good news is that your digitizer is working okay...the bad news is that you lcd isn't.
This is due to three possibilities...
1. The video controller on the motherboard is bad...unlikely
2. The ribbon cables or connectors that attaches the lcd to the motherboard is bad...possible but unlikely
3. The lcd itself is shot or damaged...seen it more than once.
The only way to really tell is to find someone else with another unit and just start swapping out pieces until you can rule out the trouble.
Or in the interim, it is possible that the cable just jarred loose a little or has become dirty, preventing full contact. Simply disassemble the thing, clean the contacts, and put it back together...not hard to do, but not for the feint of heart either.
Good luck, hope you get it fixed.
p.s. Don't be afraid to take it apart...what can you loose, just be very careful to document each step if you haven't done it before. I've done it a couple of dozen times on various Casio E-1XX machines and never had any problems yet....
802.11b
somewhat yes. i use a d-link cf 802.11b card with my netgear access point. If you want the most flexibility you may want to get an orinoco gold pcm-cia card (assuming you have a pc card adapter). orinoco makes a great card.
E-100 gone haywire
Sounds like...
a hardware problem...but you can try doing a full reset and see what happens....
Backing up contacts list
First thing you must religiously avoid is backup option in ActiveSynch. It takes forever.
You have 2 options.
Casio provides a built in card backup utility which is very efficient & reliable for full backup.
There is a utility called TuBu which will allow you to selectively backup your data on the memory card. This however is not a free utility but very useful. You can download the trial version.
E115 main memory problem
The memory problem can be fixed easily. It is not only you. It is a common problem with some pocket pc.
Instructions according to Casio Customer Service:
You will have to back up all of the data. Then remove the backup battery and main battery for ten minutes. Restore all of your files and you should be back in business. Also, to prevent this from happening again and to keep program memory high, perform a soft reset at least once daily.
This will almost certainly fix your problem.
