Can't figure out how to close programs

Which device are you using? If using computer using Windows there is a small X in the top right corner. You may be able to click on fle and the pull down menu may have close. If using iPad you can go from one program to another and close the program using the tiny X at the top, or close all programs at once by swiping the screen.

Slight E-100 problem

You may need to open the case to see for any bad contact since this unit has been used for such a long time. Another test to check whether the problem is from the battery by plug the unit with the charger without battery. If the unit is on, then definitely, the problem is from battery and yo just simply replace it. But if it is still not on, then I suggest you do the check as I mentioned in the frst sentence above. Good Luck.

Casio E-100 didn't power up.

Try this Does the yellow light come on when you plug the charger in? If so, leave it charging for 2 hours, then do a hard reset while charger is still plugged in. I think, on E-100 it involves holding down Power button, while pressing reset button on the back of the unit with a stylus for a few seconds. Warning: you'll lose all your personal data on E-100 this way - but then again, it's probably lost already.

Help a new guy out PLEASE

1. Pocket PC is the OS by MS, H/PC is the the old handheld PC, bigger than PDA, smaller than a laptop, Hp made some nice ones. P/PC I thought denoted the Pocket version or PDA instead of handheld. I do not think people use H/pc or P/pc anymore. 2. Back in the orginal days there were 3 processors, MIPS used by casio, SH3 I believe the original Jornadas had it or were they MIPS, ARM is by Intel and Samsung (I think makes it for the 1945 and is what most if not all PDAs use now.

Trouble with installing Windows CE

You do not install Windows CE, it is built into the Cassiopeia. What the CD is is the software for your computer to interact with the Cassiopeia.

You will want http://www.hpcfactor.com/ftp-root/software/microsoft/activesync/activesync-38/MSASYNC.EXE

E -100 Help

Casio had a cable that had a serial port on one side and a connector to the E-1XX on the other side. Activesync works through this: I searched on Casio E-100 sync cable serial in Yahoo. It found two hits for a cable under $40. That should allow you to install programs over your serial port. I have persoanlly only used Etronics form the list of two and they did what they said they would do. "Casio Cassiopeia E-Series Serial Cable Mfg Part No: JK580CA UPC Code: 079767693206 Product listed below is: Sort this table by: New from U.S. Distributor Vendor Rating SORT BY: PRICE | VENDOR RATING VENDOR SOURCE IN STOCK SHIPPING COST PRICE VENDOR RATING TheNerds.net DIRECT LINK Direct from Vendor 04/02/04 Yes See Site $31.86 4.5 out of 5 stars Etronics DIRECT LINK Direct from Vendor 04/01/04 Yes $9.14 $38.35 5 out of 5 stars "

I can't perform Active-Sync with my Serial Cable to Casio E-100!?

You might try this.... Assuming that you deleted a file you shouldn't have, perform a hard reset on the Casio. You know the type, the type that will erase everything from memory and reset the device to like new. I think you hold down the power button while pushing the reset or something like that if I remember correctly. If you've already reinstalled activesync, they you would be all set.

Screen problem with my Cassiopeia E-100

Well, there is good news and bad news.... The good news is that your digitizer is working okay...the bad news is that you lcd isn't. This is due to three possibilities... 1. The video controller on the motherboard is bad...unlikely 2. The ribbon cables or connectors that attaches the lcd to the motherboard is bad...possible but unlikely 3. The lcd itself is shot or damaged...seen it more than once. The only way to really tell is to find someone else with another unit and just start swapping out pieces until you can rule out the trouble. Or in the interim, it is possible that the cable just jarred loose a little or has become dirty, preventing full contact. Simply disassemble the thing, clean the contacts, and put it back together...not hard to do, but not for the feint of heart either. Good luck, hope you get it fixed. p.s. Don't be afraid to take it apart...what can you loose, just be very careful to document each step if you haven't done it before. I've done it a couple of dozen times on various Casio E-1XX machines and never had any problems yet....

Casio E-100: Dead or alive?

If you had synched the device you have all your data on the desktop pc so I wouldn't worry too much except for some software which may require you to enter the reg info again. You could try the following. Remove both the batteries. Install the main battery. Install the backup battery preferably a NEW one. Let the device charge to the full - until the green charging light goes out. Switch on the device. It should now behave properly. It would help if you generally avoid using the device when you get low battery warning. Especially the backup battery.

Has anyone been able to sync an E-100 using the infrared port with a Windows 2000 laptop?

You might find it slow but it very definitely works. Make sure that in the windows system setup com1 is assigned to th IR hardware & not the serial port (9 pin) hardware.

IrDa Driver for E-100?

Windows CE like the version you have do not use drivers persay. You need a program like the Peacemaker that has the support built in. There are no such thing as installable drivers like the desktop Windows. The newer PocketPC's have this feature built into Windows CE. Good luck

Activesync Problem, Help Pls

Try the following. FIRST & FOREMOST BACKUP YOUR DEVICE TO A "CF CARD" USING THE BUILT IN "CardBackup" UTILITY. This is a much faster option than using ActiveSynch. It ca restore also much faster. Once your files have synched go to options & change the synch options to manual & file conversions to NONE. Remove or switch off the device. Next delete the partnership WITHOUT DELETING THE SYNCH FOLDER !!! Be very careful. Switch on or replace the device on the cradle. Active synch should recognise the device & offer to setup the partnership. Let it do so with "THIS COMPUTER ONLY" option. Once your device is scanned by activesynch one of the options it will offer is of combining the records. Select it & let it synch. I most cases this should solve the problem. Hope this helps.

Go to your device manager in your laptop/desktop, then click on modems, then click on communications cable between two computers, then click on the modem tab and change the speed to 115200, then reboot (it doesn't say you have to but you need to). Change the speed in the casio communications to 115k and then sync. Reply With Quote
