This sounds like a thermal issue. Are all the fans working inside the box? they need to be spinning at a good rate and producing a relatively good amount of airflow.
You can always remove the side panel point a large floor fan at it and see if it stays on long enough to generate an error report, probably something to do with overheating.

Hi. My Emachines PC is having major problems. At first it wouldn't start, when you pressed the button on the middle of the computer it would light up, then read no signal, and shut off. When I unplugged it...

try this...
  • Unplug the power cord.
  • Remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 to 60 seconds.
  • Re-connect the power and attempt a boot.
  • Shut down, put the battery back in and you're good to go.

When i turn my computer on it shuts off immediately and the blue light on the power button flashes until i unplug from the wall. i have emachines t 6522

Looks ugly. I'm not a tech person, but this is certainly no software problem because there's no time for the BIOS to load. (The BIOS is a little program that is run as soon as you turn your PC on and checks that everything is OK before loading the operative system, i.e Windows, Linux, etc)
Hmm... might be an electrical problem. How "immediately" does it turn off? Can you see any words on the screen? It could be many things, like a bad mother board or hard drive. If you can't see any words on the screen, *********** board might be burnt.

Emachines t6528 keeps shutting off on its own. I have been getting more error messages lately. Now it just shuts off whenever. The power button flashes on and off. The only way to get it back on is to...

The flashing power button indicates that the machine has gone into sleep mode. Moving the mouse or hitting a key on the keyboard should wake it up. But if it doesn't...

Go to Control Panel -> Power Options and change the Power Scheme to Always On (if you are still using XP) or High Performance (if you have upgraded to Vista).

This should solve the problem. You may also want to verify that you have the latest BIOS for your machine. Some motherboards have issues resuming from sleep mode due to bugs in the BIOS, so an upgrade may solve that problem. (Had a similar issue with my current system.)

No power to emachines t6522

Hi,
The final set of connections are the front panel leads that attach to the motherboard. This includes the LEDs for hard drive activity and power status, the case speaker, and most importantly, the power switch.
eg:

You should consult your motherboard manual to find out where to plug these in. The power one is obviously the most important.

Hope this helps

Emachines t6522

Hi birm,
I can tell you that most likely the white wire is the ground wire. The others are positive. The two manual found on eMachine's site does not provide enough of detail.
In this manual see;
Replacing the front I/O Panel (Pages 168, 170 see number 5).
http://downloads.emachines.com/userguides/8511279_eM_NG3_chassis_HW_ref_en.pdf

The information is not specific enough, my guess is the front panel connections is the cable to the far right. (Looking at the picture).
You can try by looking at the picture & hooking the cable as shown.
The white colored wire seems to face to the right. Than try the power on button. If system does not come on, turn the connector 180 & reconnect. Try the power on button on the case.

Listed at the bottom of the link below you can either chat with a tech or call tech. (Main site for the T6522)

Good luck birm!

I wish I could be more specific.

Emachine shut down

No, it's just the USB ports that are still being powered.
Totally normal in most new computers. Same thing with the PS2 ports.
There are jumpers on the motherboard that can change this if you really want. It's designed like that to keep things like you have powered for when you do turn it on and need them.

Flashing power button - no keyboard nor mouse. But PC works... ??

Yes, it may be that the +5v supply from the PSU is faulty, as the PS/2 ports run on 5v and USB runs on 9-12v. Replace the PSU with another of the same form factor and same power rating or better (>=230W). They come at ~£30, so not too expensive. For a little more. Try this:
