Even if it was a week into the warranty, that is damage and would not be covered under a warranty scheme. Browse ebay for hinges and they are really easy to fit. When you get a pair, get back to us. Hope that helps.
Click start > Settings > Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices. Make sure it is not muted and volume is on high.
Click audio tab and under Default device is it set to SoundMAX HD Audio? if this device is not available try another device and click Apply and test. (you may need to close windows media player or whatever is playing the sound and reopen after changing default device)
you will have to install the sound driver for your notebook.
For that you visit the site of the notebook manufacturer (HP,Dell) and download the drivers for your model.
It is strange that your headphones aren't giving you audio. Did you turn the Windows volume back up? If so, go into control panel and see if there are any problematic drivers in the audio section. Uninstall that ISATAP for starters, plus any other ones that show an "X" or "!". Then reboot and see what happens.
You must always only use "Line out" of an amplifier, NEVER speaker out.
