That is more likely to be failing T-CON board or bad connection on the ribbon cable between the LCD panel and the T-CON board.

Have a 42in polaroid hdtv... half the screen is colored lines butb the other hjalf is fine with good sound & pic

Usually a board---different names for each brand: Sustain, Y, Z etc.

Some sets (sound like yours) use one to drive right side of picture and another for left side.

The only bad news is Polaroid parts may be difficult if not impossible to find.

Screen is black, comes on for a half of a second with half the screen then goes away, you can still hear the sound. have unpluged and plugged back in. same thing.

You may have 24vdc power supply problem due to bad caps, bad backlights inverter board, it will require in-depth troubleshooting to really narrow down the cause of the problem, please read my guide first.

I Think NO expert can help this problem because it free answer

I think I may finally have the answer for the "black screen of death" for the 42" Polaroid LCD televisions. I was having the same issue with the screen going black after a couple minutes of being on. I would shut it down then turn it back on and it would work again for 5-10 minutes. On the "power board" which is the board on top, there is a little red light that turns on when the screen would go black. above that there are 4 little switches, the lower on says BURN. I simply switched that over and the television has been working for 2 days for 8 hours + each day. Hope this help. Let me know

42 inch screen

Did you measure diagonally from corner to corner? This is usually how all manufacturers quote screen size. Hope this helps

42" LCD tv shows picture on only half of the screen, other half dark!

The T-Con board (otherwise known as LVDS) connects to two seperste parts of the LCD panel. If you do have half a picture (left or right) replacing the T-Con board should resolve this issue. Open your TV, find the part number and search on eBay or at sites like www.flattvparts.co.uk where you can search by TV model number.

Flat panel displays half screen, mirrored on bottom half of screen

Have several problems with either a bad LVDS cable from Main unit to the LCD controll bd. Sometimes the cable is just not connected properly. If you reseat this cable and the problem still exists you most likely have a bad LCD control bd.
