My spacebar is not working correctly it sticks and I really have to push it hard for it to work correctly

By the time you get done 'fixing" your keyboard, you could purchase a new one for about $30.00 - buy one.

This is probably a hardware issue not a software. I would suggest taking off the space bar by prying it up with something thin. Then using damp Q tips to clean off the area. Also make sure that there isn't anything underneath. If this still doesn't work then it could be a problem with the keyboard itself. At that point I would suggest getting a new one.

Try flipping the keyboard upside down and see if anything falls out. if it still doesn't work your best bet is probably to just buy new keyboard. they aren't expensive.

Spacebar somewhat jammed

It seems that the button below spacebar is broken, there is a small plastic button which teared up sometime due to using the button over time time, try to replace the keybaord, you can check local shops for replacing single space key.

Spacebar problems

You need to reattach the rubber nipple facing up. It's the part that makes contact with the board to signal to the computer the spacebar has been pressed. Most of them are free floating under the key or even gluing it on would be fine. The keys can be a bit tricky to pop off. Use a plastic pry bar, you an find these online for a couple dollars.

Spacebar on my Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 is sticking in the down position.

Take out the space bar button and change the position of the "sway bar" shown in http://www.paulstravelpictures.com/MS-Natural-Ergo-Keyboard-Sticky-Spacebar-Fix/index.html

There are 3 positions you can keep the sway bar - The middle positions worked for me and probably will work for you too.

Is it possible to adjust the sensitivity of the keyboard? My spacebar doesn't work unless I press it uber-hard!

no there is not a sensitivity setting for the spacebars, however, some people have eaten or trimmed their fingernails and so on by their computers and in turn have gunk stuck up underneith the keys.

So check to make sure something has not landed up underneith it and clean it out if it has.
and make sure the keyboard is seated correctly. (if other keys dont work or don't work well this is a sign that the keyboard connectors are not seated correctly, but if all other keys work fine it is not a seating issiue and your cables are connected just fine.) If under warranty call the HP techs first!

otherwise http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01918142.pdf
Page 70 will get you to the techs maual on keyboard removal, cleaning and so on. a dry toothbrush and a vacume will go a long way though....

Problemwith spacebar

If you take all those tiny screws out of the bottom of the keyboard you'll see a circuitboard with three copper "design" spots(usually 3) under the spacebar..........the ones NOT in the center of the spacebar are dirty. You could use some alcohol or acetone to clean the outside "designs".....(warning) Acetone will damage plastic!!!!!!!!
there are a lot of rubber caps that WILL fall out of place when you turn it over) (the actual keys could fall out too) (Be careful when you take off the bottom of the keyboard!!!!) Clean the ones that align with the SPACEBAR!!!! Dont touch or clean anything else that wasn't working....... Gently place the bottom back on and screw down the bottom cover with a cross pattern.....(left>right...top>bottom).....If this dosn't work....the best part is that a new keyboard........is fairly cheap....mtg

Keyboard spacebar sticking

Just solved it, after a bit of tinkering...

the prongs of the floating plastic frame need to sit inside the clips of the spacebar key, you can't just clip it back on with the prongs either up or down. It's fiddly, you need a paperclip or thin screwdriver to do it, but it's stopped the sticking problem.
