Do you have the correct driver loaded? Are you using DVI output on the computer? Is there a VGA output? If so, try using a VGA cable while you troubleshoot the video issue.

Make sure the resolution signal sent out via the DVI is a valid timing signal the monitor can recognize.

HP w2207 no vga input signal, no dvi input signal monitor goes to sleep

There is no signal coming from your PC.
excuse some of the solutions as sounding dumb, but we have to explore all possibilities.

Check the power cable going into the computer
Check the power input disconnect switch on the back of the power supply and make sure it is on
If the pc is plugged into a power bar, make sure it is turned on and the breaker isn't tripped
press power on the PC and make sure the lights are coming on.

now for the solutions that may actually help.

disconnect the power from the PC
if the video is on a card, remove and re-seat the video card
hook the power back up, connect the monitor and try again.

the CMOS on the computer may need to be reset.
I hate totally clearing the CMOS, so what I usually do is remove 1 stick of ram and power up. If the system is alive again, power down, put the RAM back in and power back up.
If that doesn't work, turn the system off, put the CMOS jumper to the CLEAR position for 15 seconds, put it back to the Normal position and then power back up.

Basically, if the monitor works on your friends system but not on yours, the the problem is your system, not the monitor (assuming it isn't working fine til it gets into windows...if that's the problem, you have a driver or configuration problem)

I have a 19 inch Gateway HD monitor. The model number is LP1925. When I boot up everything is normal. However, after about 5 minutes the screen goes black. I can't get the picture back unless I pull out...

I see that this monitor has a DVI input, in additon to the VGA input. I suggest getting a suitable cable to use the DVI input, to see if the fault replicates. If it doesn't, you have identified the problem - an issue with the analogue signal processeing circuitry in either the monitor or the computer. The monitor's auto sleep analogue circuitry, for example, may not be sensing a signal, and going to sleep. BTW, if you use a DVI-DVI cable, you avoid the video signal ever going through an analogue stage, and the image will also be purer.

  • Hello chaleebradsh, the "Monitor" as well the Computer have "Power Saving Modes," [Sleep, ScreenSavers, and Hibernation]; so what you want to do is "Change the way the Computer / Monitor Sleeps!" From the Desktop Screen, click on the "Start Button," next in the [Start Search Window], type: power. In the next [window] that opens, you should see, from your point of view; a "list" in the (left column) "Change when the computer sleep, the wording may be different, but it will be clear enough. Now all you have to do is change the way the Computer and Monitor "Sleep, or Turn-off." If the Monitor have its own "settings;" just find them by the [button on the monitor], and do the same thing as above; but I'm sure the computer will take care of both. No DVi input, then computer goes to sleep

Hi publicworker,

I had a similar problem whereas my monitor went to sleep mode after a few minutes. I'm running an HP LP 2065 in dual mode with another HP flat screen. However, I did resolve the issue after resetting the output settings.

How to do that:
  • right mouse click on the desktop
  • select graphic options
  • output to
  • extended desktop
Maybe some changings/modification will help you too.
