it is a volume button problem. first you ensure that button is stuck or not & you can checked it from computer store.

i have the same problem with the AL1717. After hours figuring it out, i found the solution.. if you slide off the cover holding the back arm, you will expose the screws holding the arm which you can screw off to take off the back arm....

the cover can easily slide off as it is only 'clicked' into place.... gently put your fingers on the cover apply some pressure to slide it out...

Include me in the people burnt (no pun intended) by crappy quality Acer monitors. Will never buy their stuff again. Ironically, this infrequently used external monitor burnt out overnight, just a few hours after I had actually checked out and decided to buy an Acer Windows 8 15.6" i5 laptop. Definitely not buying Acer again.Imran

Try updating your display driver and also try with another monitor cable, in case its broken.

This could be your graphic card is aging or the Hard Drive or even the monitor saying goodbye. Troubleshoot with another monitor, you will be able to narrow it down more. Good luck!!!

well go to ur speaker icon on the right hand..next to the clock and open it up..volume mixer...make sure the lide is full on the top and not muted...if it is undo muted ...also check ur cable to ur pc..if it was working yesterday...well something gone wrong with the wireing..

It means there is no compatible signal going to the monitor check connections and video card

You need to open it up and inspect the power supply for blown fuse first, then look for bad caps with bulging top or leaking liquid. Post back what you find so we can guide you further, see example of failed monitors due to bad caps:

reset your monitor color setting by the following setting

Try the monitor on another system to see if the monitor or the video card in the computer is the cause, replace the appropriate parts.

in most cases the fault is not the monitor its the computer in some cases its due to dirty ram slots (clean them reinsert ram) in the worst case its your cpu

check your computer with another monitor then confirm its the pc have it looked at

The monitor has faulty capacitors. Capacitors have a job to hold power long enough for your display. Faulty capacitors will only hold power for at least 2 to 8 seconds and a dead one will actually not hold power at all. The only solution is to replace the faulty capacitors. Get a computer technician to open up the monitor for you and locate the faulty, leaking, or bulged capacitors located on the circuit board where you connect the power supply. Note the polarity of the capacitors as you replace them.. (+) and (-)

Monitors DO NOT require any drivers to work, under Windows any version. If there is a problem it is NOT a driver issue to do with the monitor, you will have to look elsewhere.

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions

even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause this problem or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free

restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard
