The monitor will go into

No pc stated just monitor. (not even desktop or laptop) stated. no OS stated, ether. so ill answer in wide generic ways.... all computer are a problem, since days of Mr. Allen Turning to now. ive done 43years of them just puters.(and other big systems MIL) no person on earth can answer that common question gee no pc stated,! nor can we lay blame until its fixed can we. ever. 3+billions of transistors. mine here typing now. 4,800,000,000, and friends, lots of other things to fail even LCD its not a toaster or 4 banger calculator, at all. its COMPLEX but 1 of those 2 boxs or cable are bad. sure. (viewed in the MACRO) sleep? how do you know it is sleep. the screen showed that. text said SPEEP? is the screen totally dead. (that is not sleep if true) is the screens OSD button dead?, the only clue i have here is one word, REGISTER (good word just too few) so the screen never ever shows any text or HP logo ever booting with monitor on for 5min. power on PC, see words? no text ever...so. then push the monitors. Select menu buttons on front of monitors. and the OSD pops does it , it must....!!! see image below (mine is Viewsonic, near new) there are many simple tests here.
  • try you monitor on any other PC
  • or try you pc on any other monitor
easy no.?, just 1 or 2 tests and bam, who's bad. called the process of elimination.. but OSD is first. no matter what,. if the screen tests ok,, (display tests and its buttons) then the PC is problematic, (1/2 the battle won) the first thing to do (tell me what pC) but turn off all sleep modes in the CONTROL PANEL + POWER SETTINGS> do that first. if you can even get the screen to work. A pc never boots to sleep so..... the PC can have 2 VGA jacks on the rear. the PC can have DVI jacks, using those are you try them all yet? if you test the PC and it works and the screen works the cable is bad. omg that screen is new, its even sold now at walmart. not cheap either, too much, kinda this is a modern 22" screen, LED> and do not just go bad, is the power pack there and correct? if the OSD screen is dead, check power first. this is the Monitors brain, it works even with the PC dead. the button is marked menu or select. this is test1. osd-1z31dkbg41o2owghj0fas5br-1-0.jpg on my monitor ,heck all 2004 up it tells you SLeep mode when the PC goes to sleep mode or shows Power saver mode. live on the screen. screen power on first sure. all ways to go black done here. http://pcdied.com/black-screen.html

Is there a way to tell if my device is being charged from a USB port on my laptop

Your computer should notify you that something has been plugged into the USB port. I have a small rectangular charger, but it has a button on the end, when pressed, it has 4 dots that are blue when charged, red if not. So, when all 4 are blue, I'm ready to use it. Without that signal system, I do not know. Sorry.

I have a HP w2207.

Hello,

First of all test if the monitor outputs anything when you boot up the pc. That particular stage is done at lower resolutions (usually 640x480, 800x600 etc). This way we can rule out a problem with the monitor being unable to scale higher resolution due to a video processing error at hardware level. If the monitor still can't display anything and you know the pc's video card to be working (tested with another monitor, for example) then you may have a hardware problem with the monitor itself.
Some time ago i've worked in a HP authorized service center, but I've retired from there a few years ago. Surely monitor technology has changed a bit but basic principle remains the same. One possible flaw could be related to the logic board inside the monitor. When you plug a vga/dvi/hdmi (any type of signal) cable to a monitor, it's logic board - mainly the cpu inside, should sense the connection and enable a power on voltage to the lvds bridge supplying the lcd panel (screen). If this voltage is not being sent or is not stable enough, the monitor will either not display anything or simply go to stand by when you insert a signal cable to it.
If by testing the monitor you cannot make it to display some sort of image, in any resolution, you could try sending it to a local service center - if warranty doesn't apply to it. Please tell them to check the logic board and lvds processing system. Also bad, broken or high ESR electrolytic capacitors in the SMPS power supply inside the monitor could cause this problem, they would also need to check them and replace if needed. The actual capacitors are cheap, let's say about $5 for all of them, but if the logic board / CPU has died or malfunctioned, that could get more expensive.

Sorry for not being able to give a more pleasant solution.

On/off button won't pop up

Most monitors just Snap together and just have a few screws in the back. You should be able to just use a screw driver and gently pry apart the case of the monitor where the button is stuck. This should allow the button to pop back up. If that does not work, you will have to dissemble the monitor, Once disassembled you should see a little board on the inside where the button is on the outside. There will probably be a few screws holding it in. Remove these screws and take the board out. Press each button on the board and see if they "click" if you get a good tactile response from then then we can move on to the next step. If one of them does not give a good tactile response then the button its self is bad. If all the buttons on the board DO have a good tactile response then, Look at the case were you just removed that board from. You should see a piece of plastic that has all the buttons attached to it. Do you see one that is pop'd up? If so then press this back down. If it feels grimy like it has something preventing it from moving smoothly you may want to take some 70% alcohol and clean the button area. This should solve your issue. Monitor getting dark

Your top backlight element is not working, probably burned out or has a wire that has become disconnected or burned off at the end of the bulb. You will need to replace the top bulb and or reconnect the soldered wire.

Hello. I need to know

The front bezel prys out of the case after you pop off the plastic rear HP cover and remove the 4 screws that hold the monitor to the base. Be very careful because you can damage the power button circuit and the menu circuit if you are not careful. With the bezel removed the entire screen and circuitry will come out of the back half of the case. These inverter boards are hard to come by. I had to buy my parts from ICCHINA in order to repair mine. You will need to replace not just the cheap Suscon Capacitors but also the Schottky Barrier rectifier, Power Mosfet and transistors (C1815GR) x 2. I would also recommend replacing the 4700 pF Ceramite capacitor at C823 with a 250 volt Cap. You should be good for another year or 2.
