HP Pavilion dv7-2277cl Notebook PC When I turn on the power I see The hp invent screen then: I get BOOT DEVICE NOT FOUND Please install operating system on your hard disk. Hard disk - (3FO) in system diagnostics I bought this from another person, the warranty was up in February and I have no discs. So can I fix it or do I need to take it to town? I unhooked everything, took out battery, shut down for awhile and tried to reboot, same result. I did try to install an HP All in one Printer, scanner, copier yesterday and it did not work. The screen said it could not be done. So that was it and I took out cd. That is the only change I know of. I can follow instructions. Thanks I am very sure this is windows 7

I have the exact same problem with my HP HDX 16. I would suggest calling the HP techcenter and exlaining the problem to them. Chances are they will want to take a look at it and will possibly replace your laptop. I haven't yet done this, but have allowed my computer to rest for a while. Leave it shut down for maybe 30-60mins and then try rebooting. Hopefully you will atleast be able to start it in safe mode with command promt. Open the command promt as the administrator and type CHKDSK which will perform a check for bad sectors in the hard drive. Hope this helps. otherwise give HP a call :)

this might be because u r using an old version hdmi cable that only supports video...u need to get a new & more upgraded cable

please go to the bios setup by pressing F2. then check your sata hardisk if detected. if not, remove the sata hardisk and use it as external by using external sata case adapter. then plug to the other pc and check if spinning or detected by another pc. once not detected or spinning change your sata hardisk. but if detected, there is a problem on your dv6000Z notebook.
