My screen on the back of the camera is blank - it works, the "cleaning" cycle shows up - but the menut doesn't. Have I pushed the wrong button or something?

There seems to be two separate issues here. I'm going to assume you have a charged battery pack in the camera.
First, the screen. Turn the camera on. Do you see the menu when you press the MENU button? Does the shooting info show when you press the Info button? Can you see previously taken photos when you press the Playback button? If none of those show up then something is wrong with the screen (or the battery is dead).
Second, the viewfinder. First, make sure the viewfinder in the back is clean. Now turn the camera on and look through the viewfinder. Do you see the eleven focus marks? Do you see the info at the bottom? Now turn the camera off and remove the lens. Don't touch anything inside the camera! Do you see a mirror at a 45-degree angle? Is it clean? Look at the focusing screen above the mirror. Is it clean? Now look through the viewfinder and point the camera out a window. Do you see a more-or-less white blob, or the same grainy dark film?
Seems that your battery is good but your electronics have gone bad. But just to be on safe side you might try another battery since a battery that does not charge fully could be responsible for erratic electronic operation of components.
the camera is a real camera in the screen bezel pointed to you
not to itself or the screen of any laptop
how can it see backwards.
a cell phone has front and rear camera
this PC is not a Cell phone.
answer 2
NO OS told at all we can not guess OS you run.
but the drivers are wrong and or MSI apps to make the camera work like new.
OS upgrade love to break cameras, did you?
the most confusing thing is
take pictures/ videos using the internet.
what does that mean? be clear on use or get wrong answers.
I am not sure if this advice will work for your model, but it does work for other Canon models.
There is a DISP button on the back. When you push it in, it will turn off the LCD display. Hit it again, and it will keep the display off but show the on-screen icons. Push it again, and the LCD will turn back on. I may be wrong about the order it cycles, but it will cycle through the various modes.
Known sensor problem. Nikon USA have a recall - see their website Nikon Europe tell you how to claim - see their website. Nikon UK fixed mine after quoting the Europe data by e-mail. Whichever, it goes back to Nikon to be fixed
1. You can see images on the screen for a few minutes. That means there is nothing wrong with your computer.
2. When your screen goes blank, if you disconnect and then reconnect the monitor, it shows fine again for a few minutes before going blank (or dim) again. That means the problem is not with you video card.
3. It always shows the image after reconnection for exactly a few minutes before going blank again. yes? this means that there is nothing wrong with your cable.
Conclusion: Sorry, but you do not have many options. I bleieve that the problem is with your monitor that's going bad. Its far cheaper to get it replaced than to repair it.
My camera won't play back. Occasionally, if I ffwd it will show the picture otherwise its a blank screen. Any ideas? I've tried cleaning the heads a few times now
