are you sure it isnt software installed on your pc that is displaying the overdrive menu . Check to see if you have it installed, as as far i can recall there is no overdrive program for monitors. They are used to overclock the cpu of your computer

Your DVI cabkle or graphics card has failed.

Use the On-Screen Display buttons on the lower right or lower left corner of your monitor to check what will remove it from appearing.

Mine did the same. I don't know what caused it, but removing the menu button solved it. Crude but effective. I took a knife, pried out the Menu button, then took a pliers and removed the little black plastic button and problem solved. Now I can't change the settings, but switching between VGA, HDMI, and DVI works just fine. No more annoying brightness pop-ups that don't go away!!!

You do not say if your laptop screen is working or not or why you want to use an external monitor.

Assuming the laptop has no fault and boots properly, to send the laptop image to an external monitor, once you have booted into Windows, press and hold the Fn (function) key bottom left of your keyboard, near the Windows Logo key, then simultaneouly press the Function key (above the numbers) with the image of 2 monitors, 1 dark, 1 bright (often the F4, F5 or F6 key).

If the laptop's screen is faulty and the above procedure does not work, there may be damage to the graphics card which will probably require specialist repair.

The LCD driver board may need to be replaced.
Have it checked by a qualified technician.

1. You can see images on the screen for a few minutes. That means there is nothing wrong with your computer.

2. When your screen goes blank, if you disconnect and then reconnect the monitor, it shows fine again for a few minutes before going blank (or dim) again. That means the problem is not with you video card.

3. It always shows the image after reconnection for exactly a few minutes before going blank again. yes? this means that there is nothing wrong with your cable.

Conclusion: Sorry, but you do not have many options. I bleieve that the problem is with your monitor that's going bad. Its far cheaper to get it replaced than to repair it.

Look for a program called Sound Booster or one called DFX. DFX is my favorite because it not only boosts the volume, but lets you add other effects to enhance you sound as well. There is a free version. but to get all the effects you have to upgrade to the paid. If audio is important to you, check it out.
