I am have passthrough issues with Procurve MSM710 Controller. I have to allow mac based authentication for let say Xbox live or PS3 to be able to go online. Is there a way I can define ports (port forwarding) or define rules for these application so they can get online without any issues? or without mac based authentication

The MSM720 allows 250 guest users. From what I know of networking this should apply to your product as well.

It sounds like a possible password issue. I would call Xbox live support. (800) 4MY-XBOX or (800) 469-9269

Xbox 360 has limited codecs, if you want to utilize more file formats download the media pack on xbox live. but for your streaming pleasure try out TVersity or PS3 Media Server it also supports xbox. just install it on your PC then stream the videos to your xbox.

You should disable client isolation (in VSC, allow traffic between [ALL] wireless clients).

Are the MSM310 in controlled mode or autonomous?

Do you have an Xbox Live Gold Membership? To get Xbox Live you have to buy the membership, that's why a lot of people go with PS3 because you don't have to pay a monthly bill. But if you do have a gold membership. Press the Xbox button that has a big green X on your controller and then go to settings. Go to system settings, then go to network settings and select which connect your xbox is connect and then test your Xbox live connection. Hope this helps!

1. With your Xbox powered down, take an Ethernet cable and plug it into a numbered port on the router, and plug the other end into the Xbox.
2. After you have your Xbox connected to the router, start up the Xbox without a CD in the tray.
3. After you start the unit, you should arrive at the “Xbox Dashboard”. Select the Xbox Live option and press the “a” button on the controller.
4. After “Xbox Live” loads select the Network Setup and press the “a” button your controller.
5. On the “IP Address” settings, you can choose “Automatic” or “Manual”, make sure it’s Automatic.
6. Select the Connect option and press the “a” button on the controller.

After you use the “Connect” option, the Xbox will detect the network cable, and will ask you if you want to connect to Xbox Live

Both consoles have advantages.
The Xbox 360 has a vast array of titles and has the biggest fan base of the two. If you connect the console to the internet, you can download games and movies through Xbox Live. You can also connect your PC to your Xbox 360 and use the console as a multimedia center using Windows Media Center.

The PS3 has a blu ray drive as standard, so you can watch blu ray movies through your PS3. DVD's are also upscaled up to 720p to improve the look of your movies. The PS3's online service is free, and allows you to download game demo's and downloadable content for games.
The Xbox 360's disadvantages are the fact you need to pay for access to Xbox Live, roughly £40 per year, but it does guarentee a reliable online service. Also earlier and cheaper models of the Xbox do not support full HD via HDMI.
The PS3 is very expensive and lacks quality titles. The console is also on a 10 year plan, so even though the console will outlast its rivals, it is likely to become outdated.
If you want to watch blu ray films and play games occasionally, go for the PS3. If you want a console with a lot of titles and a reliable online service,  get the 360. Of the two I'd choose the 360, but in 2 years or so I might need to reconsider.
