I just bought a new acer apire 4732z, i checked on the acer crystal eye webcam and i tried to used it to record a video for my school project but unfortunately after i recorded the video there are no audios available... I've tried to adjust the microphone settings and it seems like working but the thing that i just dont know is when i record something on the acer crystal cam with sound recorder in it there are NO SOUND and it stated that i need to plugged a mic, does acer aspire 4732z has a BUILT IN MIC and IF DOES HOW CAN I USE IT??? pls. i need the video presentation a week from now, hope you can reply. :)

Check this first: Certain Acer laptops come with a built-in Webcam called the "Acer Crystal Eye." This Webcam is located in the center of your lid just above your LCD screen. Those models that possess this integrated Webcam also have a program with the same name. This "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam" program allows you to record video through your Webcam and save it on your hard drive.

Step 1 Click "Start," "All Programs," "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam" and click the program shortcut of the same name. This opens up the Webcam where you can see yourself, but it hasn't started recording yet.
Step 2 Click the video camera icon, which is the one second from the left under the video display. This starts recording the video.
Step 3 Click the video camera icon again to stop recording and save your video. You can also delete the video by clicking the clip's thumbnail on the bottom panel and clicking the trashcan icon.
Step 4 Locate the video file on your hard drive in your "My Videos" folder, which can be found inside your "My Documents" folder.

click start control panel view devices and printers you should see your webcam from there
if you are have trouble with your webcam

click start control panel administrative tools computer management device manager scroll down image devices you could see a yellow question mark?
right click to reinstall drivers or update driver xp

click start right click on computer select properties device manager scroll to image devices expand right click to update driver in W7




Some webcams and programs require additional software, although that should be installed with the webcam if things are right.

But is does not harm to check if your Java, Flash and Quicktime software are installed and up to date.
But certainly check your DirectX software, since all video applications, including webcams, use DirectX for video processing.

Try downloading the latest DirectX version and install it (Windows XP: DirectX 9.0c - Windows Vista: DirectX 10).

if its the driver you need
click start control panel view devices and printers you should see your webcam from there
if you are have trouble with your webcam
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager scroll down image devices you could see a yellow question/exclamation mark ? ! or a red X a new driver will need to be installed
right click to reinstall drivers or update driver

check it in my computer for any USB video device. if not found there then use the fillowing link to download proper driver .

If you are using Windows you can use windows Movie Maker to record and Save videos

u want to record video u can use cyberr link power producer provided by acer notebooks or any video capturing software and in the cap settings select crystal eye webcam as a source and ther eu go start rec ur video

Update the drivers. The Crystal Eye is not the best camera out there. I have had to update mine 7 times and only owned it for 3 months

maybe the webcam isn't compatiable with the program you are using

I have the same prob. I have Acer 6920. What a waste of a Webcam

Import video is only when you have recorded a video using the webcam in a particular format and not on the fly which is what you are trying to do.

Record what you want using another application and the webcam then import the video into movie maker to edit.

Alternatively, I think you need to to go the options screen and select the default audio device. Go to control pannels and see if its there and then select the webcam as the default device for MS applications.
