My Compaq Evo N1015v won't boot unless fn+f11 are pressed on every start-up. When I turn on the laptop the Compaq screen shows with the message "to change system settings press f10". It does not boot any further until f10 is pressed. On pressing f10 a message appears saying "Entering setup....." and it is here that it freezes completely. I have left this for over 60mins before holding the power button down and powering off. I did read about pressing fn + f11 when the initial message "to change system settings press f10" appears. This does enable the boot to complete and windows to operate normally, but as soon as the laptop is shut down and there is any length of time between use then the whole problem starts again. Whilst I know I can press fn+f11 and get it to work, I would like some advice as to what is causing this problem and if/how it can be rectified permanently. Many thanks in advance. Compaq evo n1015v will not boot up when power is pressed

For this kind of issue, please follow up the following steps to check:

1.confirm the battery and ac adapter connect the laptop normally.Maybe the bad connect lead to this problem. If there are no lights when you turn on laptop, one of possible reason is that your adapter is malfunction.

2.the second possible cause is laptop dc jack failure. If the dc jack is broken or loose, you are required to replace it or repair it.

3.Another possible reason is that there is something wrong with laptop motherboard. For this situation, it includs two kinds of possibility,a failure in an electronic circuit and BGA malfunction.

For more detailed reasons and solutions, please have a look at the following article:http://www.ifitjams.com/lappower.htm

If you verify your laptop adapter is dead and you plan to order a new one, I recommend one for you on the basis of your laptop model:

If am making call with my Compaq Evo N1015v the side will not hear me but i hear them

you need to check you have a microphone, and if so go to your optons in your programm you use and set it up. most web cams come with mics built in and the programmes usually sort it automatically, if this is not the case you will need to do it manually. or you can get headphones with a microphone.

Black screen white writing...

Restart and keep pressing f8. Select safe mode and see if you can login to safe mode. If that is not possible then keep pressing F10 key to start recovery tools. Just follow instructions on the screen in recovery tool to recover your Notebook back to factory settings.
If there is any important data on the notebook, then use data backup tool in REcovery utility.
