You probably have a bad BLUE CRT. Due to the cost and the length of time it would take to repair, I would not invest the money into it. It would require a Qualified Service Person to come to your home and remove the BLUE CRT assembly and send it back to SONY to be rebuilt. Estimated cost would be around 800.00. I would check prices of a replacement set.
I hope this helps,

this sounds like a transistor issue concerning the ccfl lamps the power transistors are deteriorating and they will eventually go bad you can have them replaced and that should fix the issue. otherwise I would say have the capacitors that feed the ccfl's may be getting old and need replacement as well, its not something the average customer will want to do but if you have a service center that does electronic repair then that would be bst. Hope this helps
Check the info from this website to see if you are able to fix your TV. You should turn the blue screen control down slightly counterclockwise. If that did not work, then more likely you have a video amplifier IC defective or a blue CRT.
convergence ic and resistors require replacement and that you need to check for cracked solder. http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov/ConvergenceFix.htm http://cmpalmer.blogspot.com/2006/11/fixing-my-own-tv-part-ii.html
Thanks a lot.
