Send the cartridges back! HP cartridges are coded and will only work with HP printers. Hp has had problems with their coded cartridges. Especially if they were manufactured overseas. Their own product won't recognize the cartridges. It is not the printer it is the cartridges.
This happens as the ink needs some time to saturate the system. Usually one needs to print quite a few pages for the ink to flow through and get to the ink head. A better quicker way is to clean the ink heads with the aid of the software that came with your printer.
Navigate to your windows control panel and double click printers and faxes. Then right click on your HP Officejet 6500 printer and select properties. Then click the Print test page button. Check the manual for cleaning the ink head.
I also have the OfficeJet 6500 and had the same problem. The black text
was printing using a mix of colored inks instead of the black ink,
resulting in a grey, fuzzy text. I finally found a solution. In each
application under Page Setup, there is an option called "Format for".
Mine had been set to "Any Printer". I changed that to "Officejet 6500
E709n [830E4A]" and now it prints the black just fine. I have a Mac
running 10.4.11. Hope this helps.
FYI,
you cannot reset the ink it self.
If your using an HP refilled ink cartridge the warranty of your printer will be void.
you need to contact HP right away to purchase new ink cartridges.
If the cartridge has been refilled or remanufactured, 'Low on Ink' or 'Ink Alert' messages may be inaccurate or display incorrectly.
My hp officejet 6500 flashes all its lights and tells me to turn it off and back on again. When I do this it just continues to flash and say the same thing.
my hp office jet pro l7500 indicates the ink has expired in all cartages but the cartgages are new because they were just put in . Before the same error code came up and so bought new cartages. Also the door to the cartages will not stay closed without tape.
