My tub keeps tripping the breaker, but after it kools down I can trip the breaker back on, but it hits 100 and trips the breaker again, could this be the heater?

What Trips?
  • the "Actual" electrical circuit breaker?
    • Is it GFCI Style?
or...
  • Is the high limit switch tripping?,
    • which isn't actually a breaker.
  • A circuit breaker is a breaker that toggles as a switch, and to reset it you have to switch the toggle switch ALL the way to Off position to reset, then switch it to on.
    • Same thing if it were a GFCI style, it just has a 'Test' button on the body of the breaker, that button is usually a white rectangular button.
  • Some systems have a GFCI breaker that looks totally differnent from above... It's located on the control system itself, very similar to what you may have in your bathroom or kitchen of your home! It will have a 'Test' button AND a 'Reset' button.
A High Limit Switch, acts like a breaker, as it will trip when it senses a temperature greater that it is set for as a safe temperature. Once that temp is breached, it will trip.

So... Which one is tripping for you? What are you resetting to turn it back on?
if circuit breaker, it has nothing to do with the 100 degree temp you mentioned. If that trips,= electrical problem, either a short or overheated electrical appliance (internal wires) aging motor pulling too much current, loose electrical connections generate heat, etc.
if High Limit, then possible overheat of water? Many times, failed thermostat. I already know what you're thinking... But I never saw water get Hot! But... Many times that IS just the case , it's just you never noticed the water hot, and it has been cooling down when you saw it.

Red reset button keeps popping on 50 gal elec. water heater

Check the wiring to each element for burn ends that indicate a short, And more than likely it would be best to replace the thermostat to be on the safe side. It tripping off for a reason, you may reset it several times and eventually have to replace it.

I just had a new battery installed yesterday and this morning there is a message appearing on my dash board >>> TRIP B 199999????????

There should be a peg or reset button next to the odometer. Pessimism and hold for 5 second or so. It should re.set to zero. Your car has two resettable odometers Trip A and Trip B. They can be used to measure the distance of a trip. I normally reset A each time I fill the gas tank and B each time I get an oil change. Nothing to worry about. You can cycle through the three odometers by pressing the reset peg for 1 second or less. The third odometer view is the total miles on the car and cannot be reset.

2007 KLX250 KAW. Out of the blue, when hitting the starter button, all electrical functions quit (horn, lights, nuetral light, etc.) After sitting 5-10 min. everything electrical "reset" as if...

the starter hase a loose field inside the starters casing. That will cause the armature to rub and short out the entire electrical system when hitting the starter button. At times it will not in your case therefore the bearing or armature shaft is bent or very worn causing this to happen at times.

Saw will not run

I had the same problem several months ago with a craftsman (shut down during a long rip), and the reset switch had tripped but did not actually pop out. I tested everything in the line between the power supply and the motor, and found out that the reset switch was not conducting. I was able to reset it manually before re-installing it into the saw, and it's been fine ever since. I'd test that before you start pulling the motor out, it would be a much easier fix if the switch was just sticking.

Delta table saw

The reset button is normally a thermal overload, using a bio-metallic strip to break the circuit. If it is old or has popped a few times it might have 'weakened' abit. Try replacing the thermal/reset button. If it still happens then something might be overheating and causing the problem.
