Printer show printer error occurred 5100 meaning what

Hi Hemalatha,

This error is a "Jam" error. Look for any objects / pieces of paper that is stuck in the paper feeders (front and back). Secondly there is a timing strip that gets dirty and could also cause this error. Cleaning it could solve this problem. Hereafter, press and hold the "Clear" button for 5 seconds or more to reset the error log.

Here is a tutorial on how to fix this error:

Error - 5100 and 6A00 keep appearing. What should I do?

Error 5100 means an error occurred in the carriage encoder signal. Error 6A00 means an error occurred in the AP motor during purging operation. To fix these two errors you need to replace:
- Carriage unit (QM2-2922)

- Timing **** strip film (QC1-6394)

- Logic board ***'y (QM2-3078)

Before replacement of the logic board ***'y, check the waste ink amount (by service test print or EEPROM

information print). If the waste ink amount is 7% or more, also replace the ink absorber kit (QY5-0146) when
replacing the logic board ***'y.

- Carriage motor (QK1-1500)

-Sheet feed unit (QM2-2916)
-Purge unit (QM2-2925)

An error 5100 always occur in my pixma iP1980 whenever i print a

Hi,

This particular error has a lot to do with some obstruction in the print path, the gears, or ink on the clear plastic encoder strip. You can find the the purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) was not lubricated well enough from factory. If you lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps) the mechanism can now slide more freely, and the unit can park the head properly without giving you the dreaded head homing error 5100 (or E-2-2 on the LCD display). Keep in mind that this repair will probably require you to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism. There are two screws behind the printer, and two in front for each corresponding side panel (the front screws are behind the grey front panel of the printer - open the top cover to see the clips which hold the front cover on).

Thank you !!

Green and orange light is blinking continuous.. and the cartridge head is not moving. ip1980.. please help..

check the status of the printer in its driver. the error will be shown there. error 5100 is the most common. error 5100 means the carriage is experiencing difficulty in moving itself.

Service error 5100

Error 5100 is either a logic board, or
the code strip (if that is the problem) is another matter -
It is the plastic strip that runs across the printer and through the head
carriage, it is supported at each end (one end under spring tension).
If it has become dislodged it will give this error, also if it has any ink,
grease or other foreign matter on it, it will give errors.
You can clean it with a cloth dampened with water but you need to exercise
great care to avoid pulling it off its anchors.
The other thing to do is clean the stainless steel bar that the carriage sli
des
on and lubricate it with a cloth moistened with 3-in-1 or light machine oil.
If neither of these works then I guess it is repair shop or replacement time
