Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator, evaporator fan not running

Hello, I have a Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator model PLHS267ZA. The evaporator fan has stopped running, it shows no resistance so I assume the fan motor is bad. I have removed the fan motor, and put a house fan in the freezer until I can get parts. Now the water and ice maker is not getting water, the solenoid is working (one of them). Do you think there is more wrong than just the evaporator fan? Thanks for your help, Loren Brunger

As insignificant as it may seem, that evap fan motor is as important as petrol in a car. That fan controls the fridge cooling on many fridges and circulation in tha freezer compartment. Replace it with the correct one and you should see a functional fridge/ freezer again. Note, i wouldnt run unit without it for long, as condensig temperatures run high and compressors dont last long.

I have a Frigidaire refrigerator. The error codes messages are EF and SY. The part # is: 241509402 and model # is: LGHS2634KP0 D. W for Model Number 241509402
ANSWER Hello D. W. The error code that you are getting indicates a Evaporator fan 241509402 failure. You want to check the wiring at the fan motor and at the control board. Check for 12vdc to fan between red and brown wires. Check for variant voltage (depending on high or low speed) between yellow and brown. If it checks ok then replace the Evaporator fan. If error code still exists then replace main control board 5303918514. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Model plhs267zcb2 evap fan keeps starting and stopping continuously

Hello friend, thank you for your post!
I understand that your evaporator fan keeps starting and stopping on your Frigidaire refrigerator, PLHS267ZCB2. It sounds like it could be an issue within the fan or control panel. Since it could be any one of these underlying issues I would recommend having a technician come out to properly diagnose your appliance. -Matt

What does the error code 5y EF mean on my Frigidaire refrigerator

Good Morning Friend,

I understand you are receiving an "SY EF" code on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS3R5EMB. The "SY EF" code stands for system error with the evaporator fan. This possibly means that there is something going on with your evaporator fan or it could possibly be a false error code. . I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully.

-Best Regards-

Freezer ices up and fridge part warm, timer changed worked well for 2 weeks model frt 163ag no frost fridge

Hello Claire Trancoso - If the refrigeration side is the one with the issue, you need to check the damper door/switch that is between both doors. In side by side units this damper controls the cool air from the freezer to come over to the refrigeration side to cool it. Contact a professional technician to diagnose if the unit has a floating restriction, an issue with the evaporator fan or a possible air leak.

Not cooling at all. Just cleaned filthy coils, but don't hear the evaporator fan running at all

The fan needs to be replaced.----------- Fans not running will cause the fresh food and the freezer sections not to work. If the condenser fan (the one under refrigerator) is not working, the compressor will cut off on the overload. If the evaporator fan is not running, there will be no airflow to the freezer or the refrigerator. First walk up to the refrigerator and listen to see if the fans (one in the freezer on one under the bottom) are running. If one is running and the other is not then get to the one that is not running and see if something is blocking it. If there is nothing blocking it then replace it. (Note that some refrigerators cut off the fan inside the freezer when you open the door so be sure that the door switch is depressed when performing this test). -------- If your fan stopped running and you replaced it and still not running, your going to need the main control board located on the back of the unit behind an access panel.

You can get required parts from from online sites like: --- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site. --------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Frigidaire gallery model plhs267Za

It sure sounds like a compressor problem to me. The buzzing sound is the compressor trying to start followed by a click which would be the overload protector tripping.
