Washer tub off balance. washer walks
There may be a possibility here of the centre hub being worn or the liner tub bearing being worn due to the age of the machine.. here is a list and diagrams of the parts you may need and can get from here:-

try to check for slackness when the tub is empty causing a rocking/slapping motion whilst empty. if the tub is used regularly and to its maximum capacity then the likeliehood is these bearings/hubs may need to be replaced.. the "walking" across the floor will be accented by the amount of items plus water in the tub. and if the tub is off balance, then this will be more highlighted when also full of water and items... if you feel this is over the top, then try to lighten the load that is in the tub at any given time. this will determine weather the bearing has indeed worn .the lighter the load, the less "walking the machine should do in cycle.. the only time walking would be unchanged is during the spin cycle, when the speed is of a constant one and it will vibrate at the same rate. placing it on a rubber mat is not a solution but just something that will make you hopefully think it is solved
and you may as well just bolt the machine to the floor and hope for the best
Top loader Matag LAT9605aae shakes and goes out of balance but not enough to cut out.
It is not walking.
Place the washer on a rubber mat. I got one from the automotive department at the walmart and it stopped my walking.

Every time we wash clothes our Maytag washer goes out of balance during the wash cycle. We then cut the wash cycle short and move the dial to rinse to finish the load. Is this easy to fix or is the washer a goner. The wash is only 5 years old and looks great.
