symptoms you are describing are faulty door seals, try putting a thin piece of paper between door and frame to make sure doors are sealing, also when did you do a full manual defrost??(once a year even with auto defrost)
Refrigerators dont loose refrigerant (extremely rare) for the past 20 years .(except Amana ) I think your problem is elsewhere such as : dirty coils , frost on the rear wall (behind panel) indicating a defrost problem , compressor fan or freezer fan not working .
The door seal is damaged or the hindge alignment have allowed the warm air to enter and the cold air to leak out the of the freezer. Look and feel around the door for the cold air and check the top and bottom hinges to make sure they haven't become loose. Look for tears also around the seal because this will do the same thing. Let me know what you find. JT
I would check that the door gasket makes good contact with the cabinet. If it does then I would check the temp inside the cabinet. If you have large buildups of ice on the evaporator coils then I would suggest defrosting the freezer and see if that makes a difference. Hope this helps.
