If you occasionally have a picture then you stand a good chance of repairing this tv. There are bad grounds on the deflection board. Start with the board that has the flyback. I do not know the year of your tv. Sometimes the same model may have an option improvement than one couple of months earlier. The first suspected problem would be the vertical IC. In some cases this ic is located on the convergence board and in others the flyback board. It has seven pins and is the TDA version. Located on a large heatsink. Resolder this and any other grounds on both board. Some will tell you the P I P board is bad. This is a free standing board that can be removed and replaced. But please do the earlier option first.

Yes, it sounds to me like it only needs touch up in the tecnician convergence menu. Which you get into by pushing the service only switch after the set is on and then using an original Hitachi remote control to do the adjustments.

Another great mitsubishi tv introduced in 2002 chassis # v20b,Most problems with this fine tv have been no problems..... but power supply capacitors and convergence ic's. This tv is equiped with the diagnostic led codes for your tech. but i'm sure he will skip that step and head right for the fuses that open when the convergence ic's go bad. Get it fixed !! it'll last another 6 or 7 years.

Convergence IC (s) are on the heat sink on the center PCB.

Part # Stk392-570 X 2 or Stk393-570

Check soldered-in pico fuses in power supply .

Use first quality parts and good soldering technique and you should be ok...T.
