Mitsubishi vs-45605 with wavy lines

The first things to check are the filter caps in the main power supply area. Usually this rolling is caused by 60 cycle hum coming from the wall. Try that first and update this with your results. Also, while you are in there, resolder any joints that appear grainy or have rings.

Has sound but shows no picture

These types of TVs eventually need to have the bulb replaced. There should be an access door marked on it somewhere. Google your tv brand and model to find a replacement bulb.

When I first turn on the TV, and until it

You will need to remove the signal board. This is the board with the RCA jacks and RF connectors. On this board there will be many components that are numbered. You will be searching for two capacitors that are bad. These are the locations and values. The first is capacitor location, C2V29, which is 16 volts at 22Mf , replace this. The next will be C2P05 which is 16 volts at 100 Mf, replace as well. And if you do have the board removed, you should, as well, resolder the pins on the convergence ICs. These are ICs are mounted on large heatsinks. Inspect the board for any and all other bad solder grounds. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support.

It comes on and then it goes off

This just happened to me as well. Keep it plugged in for about five minutes without trying to turn it on. Then try. This will ultimately tell you that your convergence chip is out. If the screen comes back on, it will look distorted. This is most definantly that chip going out. I suggest a tv repair kit or trash it. Mitsubishi #VS-45605

We had a blue cone on the screen. We have adjusted the sharpness, contrast, and cross hairs. The cone has almost completely disappeared, but we still have blue shadows. Could this mean a blown color tube?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Horizontal lines going from bottom to top.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, greenish, or blueish or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

My son dropped the remote

I doubt that the dropping of the remote could, or would have done anything permanent as as soon as one turns off the unit, or at least removes it from the wall power it will reset. So you might like to try that first. Also remove the batteries from the remote and this will set it all back to factor fresh. Now try the TV set again, DO NOT use the remote use the actual buttons on the TV this time to remove the remote from the equation.
Now if it goes all good, NOW try the remote, it may just be that. Dropping may have damaged?
OK if it doesn't work, and still exhibits the same symptoms, then these symptoms are ones i have seen many many times, and it means that your Power Supply has sensed some sort of fault within the set, and in an effort to avoid a fire and explosion or indeed both it shuts down the TV so it cannot be used until repaired.
Rear projection sets are very prone to faulting, due to their design. I am sorry to say but professionally I know there is no easy home fix sorry.
What you need to do is it is my professional opinion you should take your units to their manufacturers approved service center, you do this by contacting a, local or head office, of your unit & getting referred to an approved service center, NOW this is just SO important, even worth the extra to ship it, you see, at those places, the Engineers, are trained on the equipment you have, they usually have parts on hand, and do the job quicker. Anyway do that and get a "Quote". before allowing any work to commence. This way, at least, you'll know weather to repair or replace.

Please find below whats called a training manual, this is whats used to train the engineers to be able to troubleshoot and service these sets, have a look just how complex and difficult they are to understand and service. just so you can get an idea of what goes on.
