Picture keeps jumping, used to stop after a couple of hours on but now continuously jumps

Check with a authorized Mitsubishi dealer---Mitsubishi has a database of problems versus model- this model is prone to either main picture doing this or the on screen display (menu) doing this=EACH IS CAUSED BY A FAILING CAP WHICH BOTH OF ARE LOCATED ON THE SIGNAL BOARD----1.5 MICROFARAD OR 2.2 MICROFARAD--are the typical values.I have seen this many times and before going out to the home to repair checked the data base (retired now) and take the two caps with me---replace both even if only one issue---we are talking about 2 parts worth under 3 dollars each. They are both 2 lead parts that are soldered in---should be a 30 minute job start to finish---getting at them takes most of that.Let me know if you have questions as I am here to help.SD TECH

Black lines moving from bottom to top on mitsubishi vs 50707

Possible that the fault is thermally related and if you can check and see the stage which changes the fault when it is warm , you can confirm by using a heater on the specified area which is warm after cooling and if the fault corrects, then the component can centered and confirmed by this method. It can be faulty capacitors, drivers or even poor solder joints.

When i power the tv

This is a fault solution which can be checked and corrected by you assuming that there is no component failure. There is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance.

The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on , If there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.

Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up, if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault.

Based on the above method you must be able to locate the area of fault and solder the sections. Sometimes large IC's- ones with more pins- tend to have drying in some pins and so cause faults related to the IC's protocol. Have a rough idea of looking into the areas to reduce the time of probing.

Lines on screen and picture

Sounds like your RGB lights in the back might be out of alignment. You need to call a tv repairman who can come evaluate the situation, he should also be able to give you a quote on how much it will cost to fix it.

Power will not turn on,

This is typical with many sets when it goes old as there is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling , tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs.

Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.

Check on the sections of the power supply and main drives.

I have a mitsubishi vs 50707 projection tv, sound but no picture

Is the Lamp ok? Go to the rear of the set and turn on the set with your remote while looking at the vent slats. If you can see a bright light through the vent slats then your Lamp is working. If the lamp is on and you have sound and no pix, then the Digital bd is in what we call "Video Mute" and will have to be replaced. Also make sure that the Lamp Door is installed and the screws are tight
also check to ensure the following.....
1. re-seating the DVI cable on both sides
2. Check to be sure the lamp door sensor is closing (that is not your issue but i thought i would post the complete answer)
3. Check colorwheel is spinning up (should be a low hum, and not sound like a fan)
*** it is very possible it is a failed colorwheel, but the set should go into shutdown, so it is probably not the issue.
4. If the set has sound but no picture replace DMD board....

If the set is working and then just stops working best bet is the DMD ( i would not replace just the dmd it is cheaper in most cases and much easier to replace the lightengine) but if the set just is not working and just failed and is now always not working best bet is the digital board.

If you have an osciloscope you can measure the video signal from the Digital board and see if it is present with the no picture, if it is then it is a bad DMD but if the video signal disappears of then you have a failed Digital board. You can not us a computer USB scope, they can not read most of the data from the digital board since they use multiple scan rates and wont trigger on them for some reason, a old school scope works best i have found, or one of those new LCD scopes that have an auto trigger work well i have found that it is all i use anymore.

you can find a service manual with schematics at a very cheap price at ebay......

Mitsubishi VS50707 - picture went out while TV was

The most common failure is the convergence IC's for what you are describing. They are large black flat-pack items mounted on aluminum, finned heatsinks. They will have numbers on them like STK392-110 or STK392-120. Yours may be different but most start with STK392-___. There may be some resistors that overheated and failed,... they are usually mounted near the IC's. They will be darkened towards the middle area. Google "Mitsubishi convergence repair kit" and you'll find suppliers who will sell you what you need , quite often with complete instructions. Here's the first one I found: http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/home.php?cat=2638 This link is for your model number.
