TV gets stuck on channel, won't advance past channel 7.1

TV is about a month old, problem started two days ago. When flipping through channels as soon as I get to channel 7.1 the TV gets "stuck", it won't advance past the channel or go back to previous channel. Up until two days ago 7.1 did not present any problems at all. Not sure if this is a TV problem or a cable problem. I tried resetting the TV to factory defaults but it still displays the same behavior. What else can I do so I don't get stuck on that channel when fipping through the channels?

Already did the channel search again after resetting to factory defaults. Same result. Why do you think it may be the digital board, this seems unlikely to me since it is only the one channel? Any thing else I can try?

tbidle2 hit the nail on the head. Yes, Cablevision. I was familiar with the "work around" already. But I am happy to report that the issue disappeared yesterday and is still gone today so maybe Cablevision resolved part of their issues. At least in my part of Middlesex County in New Jersey.

    Thanks folks!

Background:
I'm assuming you have Cablevision. This is becoming a known problem with their broadcasting system. They have been upgrading since last thursday and it has been causing the Sharp TVs to freeze up on channel 7.1. There have been reports of channel 21, 21.1, and 24 as well.

Simple way to fix it:
1. Unplug tv
2. Unplug coax from tv
3. Plug tv back in
4. In the Menu go to Setup > CH setup > CH Memory > Cable (digital)
5. Enable channel skip for channel 7.1
6. Push Menu to exit
7. Change to any other channel
8. Reconnect coax to tv.

Followup:
Avoid channel 7.1 and go give Cablevision a call and let them know about it. They won't do anything to fix it until they get a certain number of reported issues about the problem. Enjoy.

Try doing the Channel Search again. See if that helps.

If not, sounds like the Digital Board could be defective. Since this TV is brand new suggest calling your local sharp authorized service center to replace that board under warranty.

Tv stuck one channel

Be sure tv is set to antenna and not cable . Do auto scan . Find this in setup menu. If this does not work check the mfc website for software update. replace the main board as last resort.

No picture, just an abstract pattern

it depends if its just that input or the whole tv itself if it works on other inputs it may not be to bad to fix, but if its the tv itself it depends on how old it is and how much you paid. it could wind up costing quite a bit. so take all those things into consideration. it might just be time to upgrade

RCA 32" TV

The most likely problem is a stuck tact switch, if it goes up in channel number, 5, 6, 7, etc. then the channel up button is stuck, if it counts down it`s obviously the ch. down button. Problem is you have to remove the guts of the set to get at the control boards screws, you can try turning on the set and poke around the offending push button with a tooth-pick, if it stops changing channels leave it alone and use your remote from now on to change channels, if you can`t get it to stop the tact switches or the control board module will have to be swapped out, hope this helps
