Sony Trinitron, no sound for TV but sound with DVD.

I once had this problem.I unplugged it for a few minutes then plugged it in it worked , but then i took it to repair it and everything was fine

Never realised you needed Audio Cables w/ the HDMI

You need a Sony remote that has a "display" button on it. Press the display button and it will go away.

audio/video OUT from the cable box to the aux IN on the panasonic right? So you can see the output from the cable box but only sound from dvd. Are you changing the input on the tv when you go from watching the cable box to watching the DVD? the panasonic handles audio, but the video from each goes to two different inputs on the sony. I hope none of this sounds condescending.

If there is no audio as well then this suggest that the digital box is at fault. The fact that you can watch DVD's proves this fact. Unplug the digital box for 2 minutes and then re-try. Good luck.

Your TV's tuner is the problem. 1st thing to try is just to sesolder its connections to the main circuit board. If that doesn't work replace the tuner. Also could put a meter on the power coming into the tuner and see if it is drooping in sync with your picture. Tuners are not that expensive to replace.

Sounds like a DVD player issue. The TV is all analog and can't replicate issues like that.
