some times it helps to lower the brightness of the screen.by adjusting the button on

your converter box has a channel generator for the channel #3 and you tv has a tuner set to ch#3 that and a coax wire . every part of that system has to be working correctly to send video ,color,sound if even one part of the system is a little off you run in to problems . most likely your problem is with the converter box channel generator . contrast that to when you get the signal from your video input . with that simple system you just take video from the video board in the box and send it directly into the video board in the tv .....a lot less to go wrong .
