Ok, so my nephew who is five years old was using my computer, and when he finished, i saw that the resolution was stretched too much, but only on the center, and too narrowed on the edges, so when i try to move something around the screen, it stretches only on the middle of the screen, and appears too narrow on the edges of the screen. also, the display was too wide so that i cant see the rest of the display (the edges, such as scrollbars, the X button, etc.) so i tried to tweak with the monitor's settings, but then above problem happened (stretched center, narrowed edges).
i asked him and he said that "he pressed something" to make it happen, and i can't figure out how to revert it.
the stretching/narrowing only happens on resolutions beyond 800x600. i am on a samsung LCD monitor.
On the monitor itself, I am guessing this is a desktop? There are buttons for adjustment. Look for the menu button around the bezel of the monitor and press it. Scroll through the settings for the default setting and press that. Once the default settings are made for the monitor, then you can go to the graphics settings available through windows to get the resolution straightened out.
Open Screen Resolution by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Display in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Display.
Tap or click Adjust resolution.
Tap or click the Resolution list and find the resolution marked (Recommended). This is your monitor's native resolution-usually the highest resolution your monitor can support.
Monitors can support resolutions that are lower than their native resolutions, but text won't look as sharp and the display might be small, centered on the screen, edged with black, or stretched.
